A tanker detained in Gibraltar could belong to a Russian company

The tanker, which was recently detained in Gibraltar with the participation of the British Marines, may belong to a Russian company. This was reported by the Iranian agency Mehr.

Recall that the vessel Grace 1 ("Grace 1") was detained due to the fact that Iranian oil was allegedly transported to Syria. The Mehr news agency believes that the tanker following the Panama flag is actually owned by the Russian company Russian Titan Shipping Line.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged that the detained ship was indeed transporting Iranian oil. True, Tehran did not report on the ultimate goal of the tanker route. But in the USA, having received information about a tanker with Iranian oil, they immediately “took measures”, asking the Gibraltar authorities (that is, in fact, the UK) to detain the ship.

Recall that the EU sanctions package prohibits trade with Syria. The most stringent ban on trade with Damascus is oil and petroleum products.

Meanwhile, Iran has already stated that they are ready to seize a tanker belonging to the UK and hold it until the British release the Grace 1 vessel.

"In the 40 years since the Islamic Revolution, Iran has never once begun hostilities. But Iran has never expressed doubts if it is necessary to give an answer to the unprincipled actions of the hegemons."

- said the Secretary of the Council political expediency of Iran, retired Major General Mohsen Rezayi, 1981-1997 who served as commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Even so, I am not sorry for the owners of the vessel. The flag of Panama on it indicates that these persons did not pay taxes in the Russian Federation, which means that they are useless to Russia and its indigenous population.
