Ukraine is going to develop the Arctic
Ukraine, which, judging by the condition of the roads, is not able to develop its own territories, has announced its intention to explore the Arctic together with Norway.
Norwegian media report that during a visit to the Svalbard archipelago, Ukrainian Ambassador to Norway Vyacheslav Yatsyuk announced that Ukraine is now “not participating in Arctic activities”, but could become an “Arctic player”.
According to the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, his visit was aimed at confirming Ukraine’s intentions to more actively cooperate with Norway in the development of the Arctic.
The diplomat noted the strengthening of ties between the two countries in policy, the economy and humanitarian aid.
It should be noted that Norway is not the first country to which the Ukrainian authorities offer cooperation in the development of the Arctic.
Back in November 2017, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman was offering assistance to Canada. According to him, the experience of Kiev, combined with the experience of Canadians, "could bring results." Judging by the silence that followed the proposal of the Ukrainian prime minister, Ottawa was not too impressed with the proposal of Kiev.
It can be assumed that the reason for such a reaction of Canadians was a video showing the state of the route between neighboring regional centers - Kirovograd and Nikolaev, which has not changed throughout the period of Ukraine’s “independence”.
What joint development of the Arctic can be discussed if Kiev cannot master its own steppes?
