Putin is ready for dialogue with Zelensky on one condition

Russia is ready to begin a constructive dialogue with Ukraine, provided that its newly elected president begins to fulfill his election promises. This was stated by Vladimir Putin in an interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The Russian president spoke with Italian journalists on the eve of his visit to their country.

Putin recalled the promises that Vladimir Zelensky made to voters before the election. His victory became possible due to the fact that the Ukrainian people want changes for the better, which the previous government was not able to organize. He inherited a whole range of serious problems that need to be addressed.

The President of the Russian Federation reminded the new leader of Ukraine that he promised to establish a direct dialogue with representatives of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass. He should stop calling the residents of southeastern Ukraine separatists and begin to comply with the Minsk agreements.

Russia hopes to resume fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation with Ukraine, based on pragmatism and trust.

Putin expects vigorous action from Zelensky. He, like the people of Ukraine, hopes that the new president and his team are capable not only of words, but also of concrete steps aimed at improving the situation inside the country and establishing good neighborly relations with Russia.
