In Russia, created a freight diesel locomotive for use in all conditions
Already in the near future, the “most powerful” diesel locomotive, which is designed to carry cargo in areas with a complex profile, may enter domestic railways. The three-section freight train assembled at the Bryansk Engineering Plant (part of Transmashholding JSC) was named 3TE25K2M No. 0003 and is an improved version of its predecessors numbered 0001 and 0002.
The developers note that when creating the latest diesel locomotive model, all the changes in the design documentation that were made after the operation of the 3TE25K2M No. 0001/0002 on the Far Eastern highways were taken into account. Thus, the “third” model is prepared for work under any conditions, which, given the size of our vast Motherland, will make this train very popular in the Russian market.
At the moment, Transmashholding is starting its next tests of its brainchild, organized on the basis of the Research and Design Institute of Rolling Stock. As part of the testing, it is planned to check all the nodes and systems of the new diesel locomotive.
It is worth noting that 3TE25K2M was previously considered the most powerful of its kind. Three-section trains replaced the two-section diesel locomotives 2TE25A Vityaz operated on the BAM, and already during the first tests they were able to successfully fulfill all driving conditions in areas with a complex profile weighing 7,1 thousand tons.
