In the Irkutsk region, the fight against floods continues, which led to the flooding of a number of settlements. Russian President Vladimir Putin personally arrived in the region to monitor the situation with natural disaster relief.

The situation in the area is really very serious. So, in the flood zone there are 31 settlements. 4 thousand 42 houses were flooded in 5 districts of the region - Tulunsky, Chunsky, Nizhneudinsky, Tayshetsky, Ziminsky. 9 thousand 919 people live in flooded houses, including 2 thousand 269 children.

It is known that the flood has already led to casualties - 5 people died, 2 people went missing.

The region’s infrastructure was also seriously damaged: 30 road sections were flooded, including sections of the Siberia federal highway, and 15 automobile bridges were destroyed. In addition to residential buildings, the objects of social infrastructure, such as kindergartens, schools, and medical facilities, also suffered from flooding.

Unfortunately, speculators immediately took advantage of what was happening. The regional authorities announced that, according to local residents, the price of a loaf of bread in individual stores soared to 100 rubles apiece. In this regard, the authorities demanded that law enforcement agencies investigate the situation.

According to the Governor of the Irkutsk region Sergey Levchenko, in reality, there should not be problems with food in the region. In the warehouses there are 22 tons of food flour and 400 tons of food wheat, which will provide the need for baking bread twenty days in advance. Bottled water supplies are also available. The plane IL-76 EMERCOM of Russia delivered 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the Irkutsk region

One of the main tasks of the regional authorities was the payment of financial assistance to the victims. Russian Minister of Labor and Social Protection Maxim Topilin assured that payments will begin on June 30. Impressive funds have been allocated for these purposes. In addition, housing assistance will be provided to all victims.

Vladimir Putin, who is in Bratsk, held meetings with regional leaders and demanded that they pay maximum attention to solving the problems of the affected residents of the region.

Meanwhile, the water level in the most affected city of Tulun began to decline gradually. But the rate of decline is very small - only 10 cm, up to 13 meters 48 cm, water slept in this flooded Siberian city.
