Syria Missile Strike: Summing Up
The blow of the American military with their European allies on the territory of sovereign Syria was hardly a surprise to anyone. The situation was heating up with high intensity over the past week, and the rocket attack on military facilities and aerodromes of the SAR, which, according to the United States, is part of the chemical arsenal of Bashar al-Assad, became the climax. The attack itself was a response to the allegedly organized by the very same West provocation in the city of Duma, where chemical weapons were allegedly used.
At the same time, the fact of the use of chemical weapons remained unproven, and in order to establish the truth, representatives of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) were sent to the place, who were to find traces of the attack and its victims, which would certainly be there. But the expert was not destined to get into the place, because the Americans rushing to punish Syria the day before the commission arrived, began their missile performance. This step caused serious distrust, including in the ranks of ordinary townsfolk, even the most anti-Russian-minded of whom doubted the rationality of such a step.
As for the reasonableness of the US missiles, which Donald Trump so boasted about on his Twitter, something clearly went wrong. According to available information, out of 103 modern missiles, 71 were shot down by Soviet-developed Syrian air defense systems of the second half of the last century, some of which are of the same age as Gagarin’s flight into space. The participation of Russian air defense in repelling the attack by the General Staff is refuted. But, despite the obvious failure of the American attack, it would be foolish to deny their obvious ability to consolidate their "friends" who are ready to get involved in any US military adventure on the first whistle, albeit only in words. Although Russia’s friends are more accurate, they are clearly fewer.
