The Pentagon admitted its blow to Syria a failure

30
To summarize some of the US missile attack on Syria on April 14. First of all, the implementation of the operational plan should be considered. In general, we can say that the US military has not demonstrated innovations, the operation was carried out, albeit according to a well-tailored, but still a template.

As always, the true start date of the operation was hidden under the interweaving of conflicting information and misinformation. In the operation under consideration, the fact that the United Kingdom was involved in the disinformation campaign, not so long ago declaring its refusal to participate in a missile attack by Syria, and, as it turned out, took an active part in this attack, deserves a separate note.

As usual, a missile strike was delivered at 3:42 - 5:10 Moscow time. The Americans prefer precisely this period of the day, since the physiological personnel of the enemy, who are on alert duty, are at that time in the worst physical and psychological form.

If the messages about the geometry of the attack are correct, that is, a missile strike was launched from US Navy ships in the Red Sea, tactical aviation from the Mediterranean and strategic B-1B bombers, then you can see some similarities with the famous 1986 operation Dorado Canyon against Libya, in which distracting and secondary strikes, as well as sorties for REP and electronic warfare, were carried out by US Navy deck aviation from waters adjacent to the Libyan coast, and the main attack was unexpectedly delivered by a group of attack aircraft F-111, which made a secret non-stop the first flight from the UK with in-flight refueling.

The material results of the April 14th rocket attack are more difficult to evaluate. U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis did not name the exact number of missiles fired, but said that the resources were used twice as much as during the missile attack in 2017. Recall that in 2017, the Americans launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Syrian air base Shairat, that is, we should talk about about 120 issued cruise missiles. The Russian Ministry of Defense, for its part, is talking about more than 100 cruise missiles and air-to-ground missiles.

The Syrians themselves in the first hours of the attack estimated the number of missiles fired in Syria at about 30 units, and claimed to shoot down a third of them, that is, according to their data, approximately 20 missiles were actually hit. The Syrian agency SANA reported, citing its sources, that reports of the defeat of objects in Syria during a joint attack by the United States, France and the UK are exaggerated. In turn, the Russian military said that the Syrian air defense managed to bring down "a significant part" of the attacking missiles. "Reporter" is also already reported about data with reference to sources in the General Staff of the Russian Federation that the Syrian air defense managed to bring down 71 enemy missiles.

According to official information, missiles towards the Khmeimim airbase, where the Russian Air Force group is based, did not launch. There is no information that the Russian group, whether it be aviation or air defense systems, took part in repelling the raid.

As previously reported, in 2017, out of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles fired at the Syrian air base Shairat, only 23 were hit, that is, slightly less than 39%. Data on the results of the rocket attack on April 14, 2018 suggests that only 18% to 20% of the missiles launched hit targets.

As expected by the "Reporter" earlier, after a little "limited missile strike", the United States refused further operations against Syria. US Secretary of Defense James Mattis said the United States is no longer planning additional attacks on Syria.

Based on the latest experience, in the coming days we expect the launch of a powerful campaign to discredit the results of our strikes by those who have ties to the [Bashar] Assad regime

- said James Mattis.

This statement appears to imply an indirect recognition of the failure of the Syrian operation. That is, the Pentagon is deliberately trying to justify itself for the failure of the attack on Damascus.

At the same time, you must be aware that public data that is already disseminated or will subsequently be disseminated by American, Russian, Syrian officials and the media will never be completely objective and reliable. Assessment of the effectiveness of certain actions can only be approximate.

-You can tell as many tales as you like about the number of downed attack missiles ... -Missiles won't "tell" anything ... but downed pilots could really "tell" ... -But, unfortunately ... -As always ... - alas and ah ...

How can you not understand that the aircraft did not enter the coverage area of air defense systems, this is a rule, missiles were launched from a distance of destruction of objects.

Irina! Aircraft can be shot down only if the state border of Syria was violated, and there were no such violations, all the missiles were launched from other regions, with the exception of the airspace over the US base in Syria, but there are no Syrian air defense systems. Therefore, I understand that your sarcasm from your great desire to support your Western colleagues and belittle the actions of the Syrian air defense forces, which are trained by Russian specialists, continue in the same spirit, now there are many such "patriots".

No, and no trial ... Why didn't they bomb in the DPRK? Or did the Russian Federation, which introduced the VKS at the invitation of Assad, thought that they and only they are legitimate guests on Syrian territory? As soon as the Americans entered Syrian territory, then it was necessary to cover them. But we have an agreement. We consult with each other. They tell us when they will bomb and when to open corridors for ISIS. We say where are our units ... They are fighting for ISIS, we are for Assad ... belay What an interesting war game. wassat

Dear Irina, the fact that the targets are not hit and the raid is thwarted is already an air defense success and there is no need for irony where you do not understand the topic. I haven’t seen flying destroyers and haven’t heard of them. The experience of Vietnam taught the Americans that it is dangerous to enter the air defense zone. Senator McCain is a great specialist in this field, he can share his experience of how the 11D missile of the Soviet SA-75 air defense system and the Phantom cockpit sent him to swim in Lake Hanoi.

In Syria, the Russian Federation will restore. We need to solve our problems, the most important of which are demographic and education. To raise heavy machine building and develop agriculture. Here the Mongols have already flooded the whole of Baikal with sewage, while in Syria we have an interest in camel thorns. But we are internationalists at the expense of the people. Not a single government "personality" came out and said that in such difficult times for the country, the aggregate income of individuals cannot exceed 10 minimum wages. They just can't theoretically. In terms of labor productivity and the size of the newly created product (value). And they rub in on us about social justice from the window of an armored limousine. And they themselves cannot free the chair, which has already smelled of the saddle sitting on it ...

And we weaned off when we didn’t leave the cabins of the S-75 air defense systems in the days of shortened combat calculations for 1969, during Daman events and later. The situation in the Far East began to discharge only after 1970, when the S-200 air defense system began to enter service.

    To sum up:
    1. Released 103-105 missiles.
    2. Of these, 65 to 71 were shot down.
    3. Three wounded civilians, the dead have not yet been presented, although in all previous cases they showed right there, to more truly denigrate the Americans. So them. most likely not.
    4. A strike was warned, the areas covered by our air defense were carefully circumvented. The Syrians managed to take action.
Conclusion: another agreement. Moreover, conclusions were drawn from the first strike on Shayrat, this time there are not even corpses. Of the hundreds of missiles, 2/3 were intercepted. Hollow failure missile attack. Ours probably engaged in target designation, but the old Syrian air defense worked for five +.
And what's the point, even if all the missiles flew? Here 10 strikes are not enough to turn the tide of the war. We need a ground operation, and this is a completely different scenario. Mirror our strategy? To hit with aviation and missiles, and let the rebels work as cannon fodder? So the rebels were so battered that they didn’t have enough strength for this. They also fight among themselves. And so everyone was satisfied, except for the barmaley and Israel.
