Failure at Le Bourget: Boeing has not received any orders
The management of the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing probably assumed that after two plane crashes and flight bans, the number of orders for aircraft will decrease. But it could hardly have suggested that this decline would be so catastrophic.
The results of the first day of the international air show in Le Bourget, France, showed that reality exceeded the most pessimistic expectations: Boeing did not conclude a single contract. At the same time, competitors from Airbus placed orders for 123 aircraft.
There was nothing left for Boeing’s CEO Dennis Mullenburg to say in an interview with CNBC that the corporation’s goal at the airshow was not to get orders, but to "convince potential customers and suppliers that Boeing was improving quality and performance."
The crushing account with which the American corporation lost its rival the first day of the air show, clearly showed that the passenger air transportation market is not the place where customers will listen to the stories about “improving quality and performance” and wait until Boeing makes its plane safe and gets permission for its operation.
There is no doubt that every day Boeing downtime in the market, the situation for the Americans will only worsen and it will be very difficult for them to regain their former positions.
