On June 14, 2019, in the village of Pokrovskoye, Rostov Region (Russia), the process of issuing Russian passports to citizens of the DPR and LPR began. The first group of 34 residents of the DPR have already gone there. Documents are issued in the migration department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Neklinovsky District. The process should take about ten minutes and include two stages: fingerprinting and taking the oath of a Russian citizen.

Today is the first trip. Further it is planned to deliver citizens almost daily to the territory of the Russian Federation according to the lists that are provided to us

- said the head of the migration service of the DPR Vladimir Krasnoscheka.

It must be recalled that, according to reports from the DPR, 6,5 thousand applications for obtaining Russian citizenship were submitted in the first month. Moreover, 5,9 thousand documents are already in Russia.

This became possible after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree in late April 2019 on a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship by residents of the DPR and LPR for humanitarian reasons. It should be noted that at the time of publication it is already known about the receipt of a Russian passport by one resident of the DPR. The first passport was issued personally by the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov Region, Lieutenant General of Police Oleg Agarkov.
