The head of the SBU explained that he had Russian citizenship with his wife
On June 12, 2019, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) issued an official statement of the acting head of the department, Ivan Bakanov. It is published on the official page of the special services in the social network Facebook.
In a statement, Bakanov gives an explanation to the worrying Ukrainian "patriotic" public about his wife’s Russian citizenship. Bakanov said that he never hid this fact. And he emphasized that the special inspection of the department did not find any obstacles for giving him a position in the SBU, i.e. in the intelligence service, which he now leads.

Bakanov said that he and his wife have two sons. Arthur (eldest son), after training at the Military Lyceum. I. Boguna graduated from Kiev University. Now he works and lives separately. Stepan (the youngest son) is in school.
Bakanov claims that both of his sons are Ukrainians, and Oksana (wife) is Ukrainian. My wife lived and studied at the school of Krivoy Rog. I entered a university in Russia and received a Russian passport. Why did his wife need Russian citizenship, he did not say. But he noted that then there were times of radically different relations between Ukraine and Russia. Since 1998, his wife lives and works in Ukraine, has a permanent residence permit (residence permit) and is in the process of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship.

It must be recalled that in May 2019, Bakanov turned 45 years old. He is an entrepreneur and director of Quarter 95 Studio, founded by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. How many employees of Studio Quarter 95 entered the Bakanov “team” and went into politics and the SBU is not specified. However, given that Bakanov and Zelensky spent their childhood in Krivoy Rog and grew up in the same staircase, there are still many interesting things ahead of us.
Bakanov led the campaign headquarters of Zelensky and the party "Servant of the people." And his appointment to the SBU was one of the first requirements of Zelensky as president.

Oksana has not visited the territory of the Russian Federation since 2013. Obtaining citizenship for many years was a corrupt feeder for some officials. We have never involved intermediaries in the process of “company” and we will not make such a request to the president.
