Russia and Belarus are negotiating the introduction of a single currency
The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin said that the introduction of a single currency of Russia and Belarus is part of a program of mutual integration of the two countries. Such a decision should be made at the presidential level.
It is reported RIA News.
Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), a meeting was held between Maxim Oreshkin and the Belarusian Minister economics Dmitry Krutoy. Both officials are at the head of the working group created by our two countries to solve problematic and controversial issues, as well as to develop mutual integration. Oreshkin said that since the issue of common currency is present in the agreement on the creation of the Union State, he is also on the agenda of the meeting.
Both in Russia and Belarus, Central banks, which are not subordinate to the government, deal with currency and financial issues. This means that creating a single currency is not the responsibility of governments.
Actually, the creation of a common monetary unit of the two countries, if you follow the provisions of the Union Treaty, is the final chord that will follow the phased economic integration of Russia and Belarus in all directions. The introduction of a new currency will occur gradually. At the same time, an emission center for its release will be created.
Of course, all this will not happen tomorrow. In this case, the final decision will be made by the presidents of the two countries after a detailed discussion.
