Martin Brudermüller, head of the German concern BASF, which is considered one of the flagships of the global chemical industry, called for continuing the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and Russia's return to the international community. This became known from his interview for the Swiss newspaper Neue Zurcher Zeitung.

Mr. Brudermüller believes that the launch of a new gas pipeline contributes to the diversification of supplies of "blue fuel" to Europe. The more suppliers, the better. He is also not against American LNG. True, technology its use, including liquefaction and subsequent return to a gaseous state, is associated with the release of CO2, which is a threat to the environment. In addition, overseas LNG is significantly more expensive than Russian pipeline gas.

The head of BASF believes that Europe should not let the United States decide the fate of those beneficial to it economic projects. He also expressed the hope that common sense will prevail in the United States, and they will not impose sanctions on European companies involved in the construction and operation of Nord Stream 2.

Brudermüller also noted that the Russian company Gazprom is a reliable supplier, which for several decades of cooperation has never failed its European partners:

When it gets cold in Europe and needs a lot of natural gas, it is the Russians who turn on the valve.
