Kuchma was accused of treason for calling for a settlement in the Donbass

It should be noted that on June 3, 2019 Zelensky appointed Kuchma as the representative of Ukraine in the contact group for the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass, and on June 5, 2019, the meeting of the mentioned contact group was to be held in Minsk. And so, on June 6, 2019, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, the deputy from the faction of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” faction, Vladimir Aryev, accused Kuchma of “hijacking” for his call to lift the blockade from Donbass and the ban on return fire .

We remind you that on June 5, 2019, Kuchma really proposed to remove economic blockade from the territories of Donbass, not controlled by Kiev. He justified this by the fact that the blockade imposed in March 2017 only contributed to the separation of the parties, therefore he called for acting in the opposite direction. In addition, Kuchma called for reinforcing the inadmissibility of return fire, as well as firing on civilian infrastructure. Kuchma's proposals were supported by representatives of the DPR and LPR. This was confirmed by the OSCE Special Representative Martin Saydik.
