Ukrainians demand compensation for assets lost in Crimea
Ukrainian companies and individuals filed more than ten lawsuits against Russia in international arbitration for a total amount of several billion dollars.
In this amount, Ukrainian investors estimated their damage from the loss of assets in the Crimea as a result of its transfer to the jurisdiction of Russia after the 2014 referendum. According to him, lawsuits in international arbitration are filed by an agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the promotion and mutual protection of investments, which has been in force since 1998.
The list of nationalized property in Crimea includes about 250 objects of private property, among which all the property of Igor Kolomoisky (in particular, all the premises of Privat Bank), Petro Poroshenko enterprises, Krymenergo, Krymavtotrans, Crimean Ukrtelecom , "Chernomorneftegaz", "Krymkhleb" and a number of others.
As follows from the statement of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Russia is now contesting the decision of the international arbitration court on a number of claims from Ukrainian investors in the Swiss Supreme Court. In particular, at the suit of the Ukrainian company Everest Estate and a number of other plaintiffs, the total amount of which is $ 159 million.
