Trump spoke out against paying London compensation for secession from the EU

On June 1, 2019, US President Donald Trump, as a great "friend" of the European Union (EU), who is worried about the energy security of continental Europe, made another loud statement. He called on the UK authorities not to pay the EU compensation (compensation), in the amount of £ 39 billion (about $ 50 billion or € 44 billion), for London's failure to fulfill obligations to Brussels in connection with its exit from the EU.

Trump said this in an interview with the British newspaper The Sunday Times, before his state visit to the UK. He confirmed that he proposed to the head of the British government, Theresa May, to sue Brussels in order to have more leverage over the EU.

If I were them (the British authorities - ed.), Then I would not pay $ 50 billion. That would be what I would have done. I would not pay, this is a huge amount

- Said the President of the United States.

In response to the mistakes that the EU made and which cost the United Kingdom a lot of money and caused him great damage, I would bring this issue to the attention, whether in the form of a judicial dispute or a motion. But they decided not to. It will be very difficult for the UK to reach a good deal when they enter into negotiations in this way

- said Trump.

At the same time, Trump, who openly quarreled with half of the planet during his presidency, advised Britain to leave the EU without any agreement at all if Brussels did not make concessions to London. He proposed that London send to Brussels a well-known Eurosceptic, the leader of the British Brexit party, Nigel Farazh, who he called "a very intelligent man."

In addition, Trump promised to make every effort to ensure that the United States and Britain concluded a free trade deal, immediately after this country leaves the EU. This supposedly should help the UK offset the losses incurred as a result of changes in trade relations with the EU.
