IDF strike on Syria: Russian “Dagger” may fly back to Israel
On the night of Monday, April 9, a missile strike was launched on the Syrian air base T-4 in the Syrian province of Homs. The attack involved 8 missiles, five of which were intercepted by Syrian air defense forces. Initially, it was assumed that the missiles were fired from an American ship located in the Mediterranean Sea, from where they, flying over the territory of Lebanon, attacked the Syrian military airfield.
But the information provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense refutes this version. According to them, the attack was carried out by Israel.
T-4 rocket fire
Shortly before the shelling of the base, our command warned the United States that if the Russian military suffered as a result of shelling of Syrian territory, our forces would strike back. This time, the Russian military did not suffer, although perhaps they were present there. But the Iranian soldiers died.
The Americans reacted instantly, officially announcing that they were not conducting shelling and bombing in Syria. The data obtained confirm this information.
The Russian Ministry of Defense became aware that two Israeli Air Force F-15 aircraft fired eight missiles from Lebanon without entering Syrian airspace.
This is not the first Israeli attack in Syria. They attacked the same base last year. The aim was an Iranian drones control center based there. One Israeli fighter was then shot down, followed by attacks on other Syrian military installations.
Opinion of the Russian expert
Russian expert Mikhail Alexandrov from the Center for Militarypolitical Research MGIMO believes that the Israeli military is making a big mistake by choosing this style of behavior. By striking the airbase, they risked the lives and health of Russian servicemen.
There is an agreement between the Russian and Israeli headquarters that Israel can strike at targets in Syria, where armed groups recognized as terrorist by Israel are stationed. But to attack the military facilities of the Syrian government is a bust. After all, there may be military advisers from Russia or Iran. If they suffer, this could lead to a retaliatory strike against objects in Israeli territory. In this sense, Tel Aviv walks along the edge of a knife, because the Russian Ministry of Defense will not put up with losses among its troops.
It’s not in vain that Putin announced the “Dagger” hypersonic missile, whose flight range is 2 thousand kilometers. Israeli air defense systems are unable to intercept such a target. "Dagger", launched from the carrier from the Caspian Sea, within a few minutes, will hit any target on the territory of the Jewish state.
But even more, Israel should fear Iran. Although this country does not have such effective weapons, it already has a reason to strike at Israel. After all, Iranian citizens died from Israeli missiles.
Mikhail Alexandrov notes the high efficiency of the Russian air defense systems, which are in service with the Syrian air defense. He believes that 5 aircraft missiles intercepted two Shell-S systems. If there were three such complexes at the airport, all missiles would be intercepted.
Israel should not act so recklessly, because hostile actions towards Russia can provoke a response, the consequences of which can be very deplorable.
