On May 23, 2019, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered the resignation of Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. This was confirmed by the head of the press service of the Apparatus of the Parliament, Irina Karmelyuk.

It should be noted that Groisman was going to go to the polls. At the same time, he strongly demonstrates his loyalty to the new president, Vladimir Zelensky, and signals his readiness to work with him. He has already urged Zelensky to immediately propose to Rada candidates for a new head of government and heads of departments.

In the Rada registered a statement of resignation Groisman

According to Ukrainian law, namely, article 85 of the Constitution, parliament should consider the resignation of the entire government. Moreover, according to Article 115 of the Constitution, the Cabinet of Ministers, having resigned, continues to exercise its powers until the start of the work of the newly formed government. In addition, according to the same article, the government resigns before the newly elected Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

This means that now it does not matter whether the new composition of the government is approved now or the old one will continue to fulfill its duties for several months. In any case, after the new Rada works, the government resigns. Will Zelensky “butt” for the ministerial seats in this situation, we will soon find out.
