"Englishwoman" pierced: Russia strikes back at May

The current “Skripal affair”, with the help of which there is a campaign of pressure on Russia, is far from the first in this series. Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Sahak Karapetyan said during today's briefing that this is a worked-out anti-Russian scenario. He recalled that in the same way, without any evidence, Russia was accused in the summer of 2003 of attempting to assassinate oligarch Boris Berezovsky, and in November 2006 of poisoning a fugitive spy Alexander Litvinenko with polonium.

Karapetyan emphasized that in all these cases, London used people who were accused by Russia of serious crimes and constantly made anti-Russian statements.

Thus, a false motive for physical destruction was artificially created.

- said the deputy attorney general.

He added that each time after a massive informational stuffing, requirements for the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions followed. In addition, in these three cases, Britain refused to cooperate with Russia in the investigation of incidents. Moreover, everything related to the investigation was carefully kept secret by the British authorities. This is in sharp contrast to the 1959 European Convention on Legal Assistance.

On the channel of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office on Telegram, correspondence with Theresa May, the current British Prime Minister, was unveiled, which unleashed the Skripal affair. Previously, she served as head of the British Interior Ministry.

Sahak Karapetyan spoke about these letters at the same briefing. In particular, in 2010, Mrs. May was sent a personal message about “inadequate security of the participants in the criminal process in the case of Boris Berezovsky.” There was no response to him. In total, 2011 different appeals were sent to the Berezovsky case before 39, but no one answered them.

Moreover, the British authorities are in no hurry to extradite the perpetrators of crimes in Russia. According to Karapetyan, a total of 83 requests for extradition of criminals were sent. 72 of these people were accused of major embezzlement by the Russian law enforcement agencies (totaling 500 billion rubles). However, London has already rejected 60 requests. Moreover, 55 of them were granted asylum or refugee status. In Britain, they believe that their criminal prosecution in Russia is "politically motivated." Karapetyan pointed out that Russia is disclosing this information due to London’s reluctance to cooperate on the Skripals case.

For his part, Alexander Kurennoy, head of the media relations department at the General Prosecutor’s Office, said that the prosecutor general’s office is waiting for a response to a request regarding the Skripal case, but “there is little hope”.

On the eve of the Russian Prosecutor General, Yuri Chaika, in an interview with NTV, said that the scenario with the poisoning of Skripals is not news. Previously, similar provocative actions were around the affairs of Berezovsky and Litvinenko. Russia, according to him, does not intend to be silent. In this interview, Seagull promised to make public his correspondence with London. Which was done at today's briefing.

Earlier, Alexander Lukashevich, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE, pointed out that Britain was unable to politicize the Skripal affair. He noted that London is trying to "spoil the already unhealthy atmosphere" at various international venues, including in the OSCE.

It remains to be added that Britain is currently doing everything possible to cover its tracks. There are reports that the house of Sergei Skripal, a cafe and a bar where he was with his daughter, will be demolished. The Skripals themselves are likely to be transported to another country. Plus to this: a strange story with pets who lived in the house (they too quickly hastily burned them) and a reluctance to issue a British visa to a cousin of Julia Skripal Victoria. When there is real evidence of guilt, they are made public, not hidden.
