On May 16, 2019, the judge of the Moscow District Military Court (MOVS) Oleg Moskvitin recognized the arrest of FSB Colonel Kirill Cherkalin, the head of one of the departments of the department, as lawful. Cherkalin, accused of receiving a bribe in the amount of $ 850 thousand (about 55 million rubles), tried to appeal his arrest.

The judge upheld the ruling of the 235th garrison military court on the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention in the form of Cherkalin and did not satisfy the appeal. Moreover, the defense demanded an “immediate” release and closure of the meeting from the media. However, the court did not consider it possible to satisfy such a request.

According to the Center for Public Relations (TsOS) of the FSB of Russia, Cherkalin was detained on April 25, 2019 on suspicion of receiving bribes and was arrested by the court until June 23, 2019. In addition, two of his former subordinates, Colonel Dmitry Frolov and Colonel Andrei Vasiliev, were also arrested - they are suspected of fraud on an especially large scale.
