American political scientist has found a way to reconcile Russia and the United States
How to reconcile Russia and the USA? Today this question is being asked. policy and public figures both in our country and overseas. So, the American political scientist Ted Carpenter made an article in the journal National Interest. In it, Carpenter gives recommendations on establishing bilateral relations between the United States and the Russian Federation.
According to Carpenter, one of the main reasons for the deterioration of relations is the US dissatisfaction with the support of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from Russia. Indeed, since the adoption of the Monroe Doctrine, the United States has been claiming hegemony in the Western Hemisphere. Now Russia has invaded the sphere of interests of the United States and, for obvious reasons, Washington does not like it.
But, according to Carpenter, the United States is in fact much more actively interfering in political life in countries and regions that are a traditional sphere of Russian influence. We are talking about Ukraine, the Baltic states, Georgia. Thus, the Baltic countries have already become part of NATO, and Georgia and Ukraine are considered as candidates for joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
Moscow supports Maduro to the peak of Washington, advancing to the east. Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela - Moscow’s response to the assertion of American influence in the Baltic states, Ukraine and Georgia.
Carpenter offers a scenario for resolving existing contradictions, which could satisfy both parties. The United States must break off any military ties with Ukraine and Georgia, and also refuse to deploy troops and military facilities in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region. In response, Russia should withdraw from Latin America, breaking ties with the leftist governments of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Mutual respect for the interests of great powers near their borders will be the main way to establish relations between Russia and the United States, the American political scientist is sure.
