Armenian Government Appoints Governor of Man Treading Russian Flag
In the light of the statements of the Armenian authorities on strategic partnership with Russia, some actions of the Armenian leadership are, to put it mildly, puzzling.
Moreover, the perplexity is not so much among the Russian authorities as among the citizens of Armenia themselves.
So, David Gevorgyan, appointed by the Armenian government in October 2018 as governor of the Aragatson region, participated in a protest rally near the Russian embassy four years ago and trampled the flag of the Russian Federation there.
Edmon Marukyan, head of the “Bright Armenia” opposition parliamentary faction, is asking a fair question, how do the government hope to combine the desire for brilliant relations with the Russian Federation and the presence of such a governor?
Moreover, Marukyan not only asks a question, but requires an answer from the leaders of the ruling faction.
I would like the Russian Foreign Ministry to pay close attention to the issue of Armenian policy and if possible he would also ask him to his colleagues from the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
As the experience of the last three decades has shown, ignoring such issues leads to the fact that in the post-Soviet space Russia has remained very unreliable allies who easily accept her help, but then, with the same ease, betray her.
