Sly Lend-Lease: should we share our Victory with someone?

36
The second most popular (after the cancellation of the air part of the military parade) among many foreign media outlets covering the celebration of Victory Day in Russia on May 9, 2019 was the topic that "on the day of this event" none of the foreign leaders visited. Some of them (naturally, the fenceless “brothers” tried most of all) immediately hastened to declare this fact almost the “foreign policy fiasco” of our country. In this connection, a completely logical question arises: Should we share our Great Victory with someone else there? Is it worth doing in principle ?!

The funny thing is that the decision-makers who decided to exploit the theme of "festive isolation of Moscow" at the same time managed in some incomprehensible way to ignore the absolutely clear and unambiguous message of the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov made the day before. Namely, the words that no one thought to invite any “distinguished guests” to Russia. Yes, and why would it? They decided to turn their nose in the jubilee of 2015 (then, "because of the Crimea" a number of European leaders refused to visit our country) - now do not blame me. However, there is a much deeper aspect of the problem, which, of course, neither Putin nor Peskov will publicly speak about. And you need to talk about it ...

From invaders to “allies”

Who is worthy to stand next to us on Red Square on a holy, bright and memorable Day mined at the cost of millions of lives of the Soviet people of Victory? Well, if we consider on this historical date representatives of all peoples as descendants of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who took part in that war anyway? Europeans? What, excuse me ?! As for the Germans, Italians, Spaniards, Romanians, Hungarians, Finns - here, as they say, they passed right away ... Those whose ancestors came to our land in the ranks of the horde of invaders, participated in military operations against the Red Army and bullying civilians, and then, quickly “changing shoes” ended up in the ranks of the Anti-Hitler coalition, it would be better to be silent and repent on this day exactly. It will be more honest ...

Maybe, then, the Dutch, Belgians, Danes, French, Czechs, Estonians, Lithuanians, Latvians? It seems like they are “occupied” ... Victims of Nazism. Yeah! SS legions "Flanders", "Denmark", "Charlemagne", "Wallonia", "Bohemia and Moravia", subsequently for the most part grew into full-blooded SS divisions! So this is by no means a complete list. The Czechs are especially touched ... Work on factories that riveted tanks and sharpened shells for the Wehrmacht, some of them came out in black shirts. They expressed such a protest, bastards ... And they raised an uprising in Prague on May 5, 1945, hoping to get into the American zone of occupation. Well, not fused.

For too long, alas, in Soviet times, and subsequently, too, was hushed up, the topic of participation of all, practically, without exception, European countries and peoples in the Great Patriotic War on the side of our enemies was dispensed with. Someone fought and occupied. Someone, such as Slovakia, tried and failed. Someone, like Bulgaria, didn’t have enough spirit to try - but they fed, clothed, provided the Nazis with raw materials and other military supplies quite properly and in good faith. It's true. It was. It was completely in vain that there were “taboos” and topics of mass collaboration in Galicia and the Baltic states. As well as the truth about the real war waged against the Red Army by units of the Polish Home Army.

Too many generations of Soviet people firmly believed that the Germans really burned Khatyn, and we have one victory for all - with our new brothers from the socialist camp. What kind of “brothers” they are to us, it became clear when, after 1991, the whole company went together in NATO and began to demolish the monuments to the “Soviet invaders”, who were dying so that this human scum could live happily in its European Union. What causes real pain is the absence of representatives of Ukraine, Georgia, and other former Soviet republics on Victory Day. But can Putin and Shoigu become shoulder to shoulder with the leaders of those countries where on May 9 they attack the "Immortal Regiment" and open "museums of the Soviet occupation"? Their presence at the celebration would be something even more than blasphemy ... True, Alexander Lukashenko is not in a hurry to visit something. One more in the "brothers" was outlined

Sly Lend-Lease

I foresee objections and resentment: But what about “real allies ?! Well, the very ones who “bombarded us with Lend-Lease weapons” and without which “the USSR would never have won the war”. Do you think there are few who think so? And you google, google ... It will come out that even take out the saints. “If it weren’t for the Americans, the Nazis would have wiped Russia off the face of the earth”, “Thanks to America for living in the world!” - and so on and so forth. Well, the right word, I just can’t understand what is more here - hopeless cynicism or dense, completely impenetrable stupidity. However, the complete lack of the ability to recognize the obvious among the members of the Witnesses of Great America sect (all with a capital letter!) Is well known and cannot be doubted. And we’ll somehow try to understand in detail what all the same there was with this “invaluable help” from across the ocean.

In short, the situation is this: no “support of the USSR in the fight against Nazi Germany” Lend-Lease was not close! The Beginning of the Law “The United States Advocacy Act was passed in March 1941, and it was aimed solely at helping the UK.” And later, so that you know, the Soviet Union out of $ 46 billion spent by the United States to help 42 union states received deliveries worth no more than 9 billion. And by no means free! However, we will return to this a little later. Britain received more than $ 30 billion in aid. China - by 630 million, even the countries of Latin America - by almost half a billion.

The most important thing: during the most difficult and bloody period of the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1942, Lend-Lease deliveries to the USSR were carried out for a ridiculous amount of 545 thousand dollars - and this despite the fact that the rest of the "fighters against Nazism" for the same period received nearly 750 million American "nishtyaks"! In fact, the main flow of goods from overseas went to us in 1944-1945, that is, when it would be possible to do without them. However, a good owner does not lose anything for nothing. Comrade Stalin was a very good boss. In light of the above figures, it can be said that pathological lies or complete ignorance can say that US military supplies "saved" our country from defeat or at least somehow influenced the course of hostilities.

What could save us there ?! A hundred and a half thousand “trunks” of small arms (0.5% of the available Red Army weapons) versus 30 million produced by our military industry? 10 thousand artillery pieces that made up 1.5% of the artillery weapons of our army? 9% of tanks and self-propelled guns (12 thousand against the Soviet 133 thousand)? And the “presents” were often just a sight for sore eyes… Of the 711 Kittyhawk British fighters delivered to the USSR in 1941, 700 were so old that they were no good. The British tanks "Matilda" our tankers called among themselves only "Goodbye, Motherland!" Why do you think so? Burned bastards, like matchboxes (gasoline engine, thin armor). You can recall the Herricains delivered without cannons, with one rifle-caliber machine guns, the first batch of AeroCobra, which arrived in disassembled form, without the necessary “inch” tools for assembly and with the “worked out” engines in the trash. There are many things to remember ...

And finally, the price of "allied assistance." 40% of its USSR was obliged to pay immediately. In gold! By 1943, 40 tons of our gold sailed away in the USA in the most literal sense of the word. The remaining 60% went on credit - with obligatory repayment within 5 years after the end of the war. But there was also a “reverse Lend-Lease", according to which the Americans received tens and hundreds of tons of strategic raw materials - the same chromium, manganese and much more. Despite the fact that a significant part of the armament and equipment was our country returned to the Americans (these goons demanded to return even the driver’s leather jackets that came with the Willys delivery kits!), Washington rolled out a total bill for a $ 1 billion 300 million lend-lease. And this despite the fact that the debts of other countries were simply written off free of charge. Comrade Stalin slammed his fist on the table so that the inkwell jumped up in the White House and the "allies" admitted - "miscalculated." The amount at once decreased to 720 million, which our country paid even in this century. So were they allies or were they natural ghouls?

Private Ryan and others

There was also the participation of American and British troops in hostilities against the Nazis in Europe. How, how, we remember ... Sicily, Normandy, Private Ryan, who, as they are now trying to convince the whole world, won that war. That's just not a single “battle” between the Americans and the British against the Nazis and does not draw close comparison not only with Stalingrad or the Kursk Bulge, but even with the much smaller battles that were won by the Red Army. Their entire throw to Europe is an attempt to stop our advance, to prevent the Old World from turning into the "Union of European Socialist Republics". In the same France or, for example, Greece, where the positions of the Communists were much stronger, that was exactly what was going on. And also - the desire to fully grab the military and industrial secrets of the Third Reich, and indeed, to rob Germany with all its might, which has turned into a depository of values stolen in half the world.

And they robbed so that only dust stood a pillar! Someone may say: “So we also exported!” They exported it ... It was only after what Hitler did not create in the Soviet Union that our grandfathers, in my deep conviction, had the full moral right to take everything from the crushed Reich, like a toad, to reparations and indemnities, to the last nail. Even rusty. And our people fed them from the field kitchens ... The Soviet Union, by the legal right of the winner, compensated for the enormous material damage received as a result of the enemy invasion, but our "allies" who profited and tasted this war completely simply looted. Do not believe that the war was extremely beneficial for the United States and that they “supported” both sides in it? Kindly facts and figures:

The Rockefeller Standard Oil regularly supplied the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe with both fuels and lubricants and high-quality oil for the production of aviation gasoline. From the American corporations, the Nazis received not only “black gold”, but also rubber, tungsten, and other types of raw materials vital for the military industry. A third of automobile tires manufactured at the numerous factories of Henry Ford (a huge admirer of Hitler) went exactly to the Third Reich. The list is far from complete, but enough of this - about the "Fanta" for the Wehrmacht already in the teeth is imposed. Some of the "historians" praise the Americans for the fact that they "did not let Hitler to oil sources in the Middle East, saving the world." Savior ... sucks. This is called, if anyone does not know, “protection of investments” and “struggle against competitors”! Such is the picture regarding the “allies” - not to mention the fact that the Nazis were able to create the military industry, revive the army, navy, aviation exclusively thanks to loans and other financial injections (including direct investments) received in the 30s from USA and UK.

In conclusion - just one quote, direct and verbatim. Harry Truman, President of the United States of America from 1945 to 1953:

If we see that Germany is winning, we must help Russia, and if Russia will prevail, we must help Germany, and let them, therefore, kill each other as much as possible!

There are still questions - about the "allies" ?! It was they who, treacherously violating the Tehran, Yalta, Potsdam accords almost the day after the end of World War II, won by the Soviet Union, began to prepare an attack on us. No Lend-Lease and Normandy outweigh the intentions to erase our country into nuclear dust that arose in Washington and London already in the late 40s.

This is our Victory! And only ours. The vehement blood of the victors flows in our veins, we live the unfulfilled lives of those who died on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War and try, as best we can, to be worthy of their memory. And the rest should still try hard, change their minds and repent in order to earn the honorable right to stand next to us on May 9th.

A strange feeling arises after reading. Does the author really not understand that the March 1941 Agreement could in no way include the USSR. Surely the author did not read the terms of the Lend-Lease settlement in the Agreement. I read and knows everything, but ..... The article is vile.

Land-Lease was supported, but its importance is clearly exaggerated by many today. And the sale (not free delivery!) Of weapons and equipment by one state to another, moreover, can hardly be called an allied act. To be honest, it is more likely to use the current situation for its own benefit, which the United States clearly pursued. For Britain, by the way, this "fraternal aid" from across the ocean finally ended in an enslaving debt and a complete collapse of the entire empire and the domestic economy, which immediately after the end of the war kicked it out of the position of a world power and made it completely dependent on the States. Now, with almost the same "Lend-Lease", the Americans call all their NATO allies, on a compulsory basis, almost, and oh, how they worry if one of them suddenly decides to buy something better and cheaper, but not from their main "ally "... And the USSR, at the time of signing these contracts (November 1941), and there was no one else to buy equipment from - all other real manufacturers were already working for the Germans, and their factories were either destroyed or were in a state of evacuation, and most of the military material was already lost during the German offensive ...
And the quality of the equipment supplied really had questions - the only thing there were no complaints about was the cars. Everything else simply could not be compared to either Soviet or German technology. My grandfather ended my war in Brno, as commander of a tank regiment in the 2 Ukrainian Front, on American tanks, and they didn’t say anything good about the Shermans - the engines were burning, warming up, the rubber tracks were torn, the armor protection was insufficient against German guns from the end of the Second World War, etc. These Shermans were generally the best tanks that they received from America - the latest model with a 76-mm long-barreled gun

This is a very interesting point ... But it is rather difficult to consider it. You just need to remember what the United States fought in World War II and what they are doing now. What Churchill and Roosevelt argued about and how Roosevelt broke Churchill. Interesting parallels.

And help .... Well, let's say, England urgently needed escort ships, without which it could be bent. And the States in 1940 handed them 50 old destroyers from the First World War. Junk in general. In exchange for an English base for rent for 99 years. Destroyers for Bases Agreement. They took off the pants from an ally when he had nowhere to go.

          Eliot Roosevelt "Through His Eyes"

Churchill's neck turned red and he leaned forward.

          - Mr. President, England does not intend for a minute to abandon its pre-eminence in the British dominions. The trade that brought greatness to England would continue on the terms established by the British ministers.

“You see, Winston,” my father said slowly, “here somewhere along this line we may have some disagreements.” I am firmly convinced that we cannot achieve lasting peace if it does not entail the development of backward countries and backward peoples. But how to achieve this? It is clear that this cannot be achieved by the methods of the eighteenth century.

          - Who speaks of the methods of the eighteenth century?

          - Your every minister recommending a policy in which a huge amount of raw material is removed from a colonial country without any compensation for the people of that country. The methods of the twentieth century mean the development of industry in the colonies and the growth of the well-being of the people by raising their standard of living, by educating them, by improving them, and by providing them with compensation for their raw materials.

Trump now demands to supply resources at a low price and transfer production to the States.

Yes, of course Bakhtiyar, you are right, everything written above (from me) is of course a very primitive view, within the framework of one short commentary. This topic, like the whole story, is a complex thing. There are many aspects. And the article itself is also a very simplified view, of course. Nevertheless, in general, I agree with the author. The USSR did not win the war thanks to supplies from the United States, as some say, this is nonsense. And it was not the Second Front that decided the outcome of everything, so it was the second ... I’m not talking about Africa or Italy, where in general, all together, for the entire time, the forces involved did not even reach the large individual battles of the Eastern Front. And all sorts of "allies" who are now not in the stands on May 9 ... and to hell with them. It was all already then. And then they themselves all crawled on all fours, and who did not crawl, pulled up by the collar. The story develops in a spiral, I think sooner or later everything will come to this again ...

A lot has been written about the land lease. There is no single factor that won the war. Lend lease greatly helped the USSR. Without it, it would be much more difficult. I can’t even say when he was most important. It’s not about tanks or planes. When I say that the whole Eurlpa worked for Germany, it’s true. But America worked for the USSR. Some of the materials were vital.

For all his pathos, the author is generally right.
Indeed, in fact, Lend-Lease was the help of the Anglo-Saxons themselves in their struggle against Nazi Germany (Britain fought with Germany from September 1939, the United States from March 1941). And the USSR and its armed forces from 24.09.1941 (on this day the USSR entered 2MB on the side of the Anglo-Saxons) were only a tool for using the products supplied under Lend-Lease for their intended purpose.
Actually, the USSR became such an instrument in Europe on 22.06.1941/2/01.10.1941. But since at first he tried to wage his own war (outside the framework of XNUMXMB), the deliveries were made to him not under the Lend-Lease program, but at his expense, on credit. Which the USSR has long and painfully devoted for many, many years. The USSR Lend-Lease program was included from XNUMX.
In the same way, to solve these same problems (Japan was the only final goal), the Anglo-Saxons supplied the Chinese Chiang Kai-shek in Asia as part of the Lend-Lease program.

IMHO, in my opinion the author lied.

Lend-lease is still working in the world - take it and use it.

It’s cool that the USSR was spinning around the magic number of 15% - it got about 15% (and what they wanted, one battleship - like 2 conventional tanks, and for England they built 500 large ships only in the USA), he gave his 10% (metals, additives, gold, etc.), had to give 15% of unused after the war or pay at cost (but did not), and in the end still paid 15% of these balances (already with GDP, sort of).

Naturally, a lot was not going to lendlis - it was just gold, stones and currency, and it was paid. Private property however ...

And after the war, it was surrounded by legends - like Solzhenitsyn, on the contrary (he drowned women on a barge, and here Americans are cars)

Read the terms of calculations for Lend-Lease. Everything that was destroyed and damaged as a result of hostilities was excluded from the calculations, they did not pay for it. All that remained undamaged could be redeemed at cost. The USSR left tens of thousands of machine tools, about 70 thousand Studebakers, and so on. The unnecessary had to be returned, everything was taken out by the Americans themselves at their own expense. In the 60s, my father worked at a factory (Far East) on an American lathe manufactured in 1940, Ohio. Studebakers walked with us until the mid-60s.

.... But help is hard to call. This is a commercial deal. Help was from the United States to everyone except the USSR. Only the Soviet Union paid for it completely ...

Thus, in the opinion of the United States, it was necessary to pay $ 10,8 billion, or about 1,3%, of the total volume of American Lend-Lease deliveries of $ 12 billion for the surviving equipment. As a result, the USSR, and then the Russian Federation, of the amount of $ 1,3 billion was recognized, and then partially paid $ 722 million, or about 55%., That is, 6,5% of the total cost of supplies received by the USSR. It should also be borne in mind that the amount of debt was not indexed taking into account inflation, and in 2015 prices, the cost of deliveries under the lend-lease amounted to $ 160 billion.

This was not a business deal. But to demand a delivery fee was at least unethical. And strictly speaking, it’s illegal.
So the first thing. The official name of the law is "An Act to Promote the Defense of the United States". Not helping the allies, but protecting the United States. That is, the Americans demanded payment for the defense of their country.
The second one. Roosevelt, pushing the law in the Senate, compared with a neighbor’s fire situation. If a neighbor has a fire, and you have a hose, then you can just give a hose to a neighbor for a while, and then return it. Roosevelt did not say that a neighbor should pay.

You and you have already resolved all our disputes. But the statement "without shame and conscience" characterizes you perfectly.
It is useless to refute illiterate individuals who do not know anything. And they do not understand what is written, all the more.
I was always told that: "You cannot prove to a donkey that he is a donkey, because he is a donkey."

            Pig under the oak

Pig under the century old oak
            I have eaten enough acorns to the full;
            After eating, she slept under it;
Then, having grown up, I got up
And to dig a snout from Oak roots has become.

Ungrateful! - Oak said to her here, -
Whenever you could lift up your snout,
            You would see,
That these acorns are growing on me ....

Polygraphych, go at least buy yourself a diploma from the history department of the Pedagogical Institute for solidity :))

Europeans? What, excuse me ?! As for the Germans, Italians, Spaniards, Romanians, Hungarians, Finns - here, as they say, they drove right away ... Those whose ancestors came to our land in the ranks of the horde of invaders, participated in military operations against the Red Army and bullying civilians, and then, quickly “changing shoes” ended up in the ranks of the anti-Hitler coalition,

I’ve thought all my life that we have liberated Europe. And according to the author, we conquered it, and then occupied it. And they set up monuments. To these same occupants. Thanks to the author.

I’ve thought all my life that we have liberated Europe.

Learn the meaning of the word liberation.
The USSR intercepted (intercepted) the lands previously captured by the Germans under its authority (Czech Republic, Poland).
He also completely or partially seized the lands of part of the aggressors of June 1941 against him (Germany, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Finland).
Also, the USSR in 1944 attacked Bulgaria and captured it.
In 1941, the USSR also attacked Iran and seized part of its territory. Only Britain was able to squeeze the USSR out of Iran after WWII. The USSR itself did not want to leave there.

And according to the author, we conquered it, and then occupied it.

Do you think that they themselves decided to "build socialism" at home? Why then, during the collapse of the USSR, did you change your mind? And that's all.

And they set up monuments. To these same occupants.

Yes, the monuments set up for themselves. Only here the inhabitants of the Czech Republic (or Poland) do not think it is interesting how many Soviet people were killed in a showdown with the Germans over THEI (Czechs and Poles) territory.
All the same, the graves of the liberators and the graves of the invaders are, as it were, different in some sense graves.

Necropny (Alexander), why go far to "foreign media"? We have our own words that are quite the same:

And finally, bothering you. Which foreign guests will be at the Victory Parade this year? Take a look) Think about it. Russia in self-isolation.

    - these are our "descendants of the winners"!

Assessing the importance of Lend-Lease deliveries, in December 1943, at the Tehran Conference, Stalin rightly noted that

without American production, this war would probably have been lost.

Anastas Mikoyan, who was directly involved in accepting Lend-Lease supplies as the People's Commissar of the USSR’s Foreign Trade, said many years after the war:

Without Lend-Lease, we would surely have fought for another year and a half.

... Americans drove us so much material, without which we would not be able to form our reserves and could not continue the war! .. Received 350 thousand cars, but what kind of cars! We had no explosives, gunpowder. There was nothing to equip cartridges. The Americans really helped us out with gunpowder, explosives. And how much they drove us to sheet steel! How could we quickly set up tank production if it weren’t for American steel help? And now they present the matter in such a way that we had all of this in abundance.

From the report of the Chairman of the KGB V. Semichastny N. Khrushchev with the stamp "Top Secret". N. Zenkovich. "Marshals and general secretaries." Moscow, 1997, p. 161-162.

should we share our victory with someone?

The victory in the 2 MV was won by the countries of the Anti-Hitler coalition. One of the participants of which was the USSR.
Today there is no such state on the world map. And from this we must draw the right conclusions.
