The truth about Russia has broken the stereotypes of foreigners

2
Matryoshka, bears, vodka - even the most “dark” foreigners do not take these anecdotal stereotypes about Russia today seriously. Over the past decades, millions of Russians visit other countries, and the flow of foreign tourists to Russia is growing. What do foreigners think about Russia and Russians? Of course, foreigners do not have a single attitude to our country and its inhabitants, and foreigners differ from each other - one is Chinese or Egyptian, and another is American or French.

Very often, foreigners who have not had time to visit our country are simply afraid of it. Purposeful is to blame policy Western media. German journalist Tino Künzel, who first came to Russia in 2004, says that newspapers and television in Germany paint a demonic image of the Russian Federation, but ordinary Germans are much more friendly towards Russia. But, of course, much in Russia is unusual for a German. For example, the Germans pay attention to the untidy nature of many streets and entrances, but this is explained by the peculiarities of the mentality - a clear line that Russians draw between the “common”, “public”, and personal. But over the years that Künzel lives in Russia, the country has changed very much - people began to smile more often and more closely monitor public space. The German journalist attributes this to increased wealth and improved quality of life. Life has become easier, which means more fun.

The best cure for stereotypes is their own experience. The Italian Amedeo Chigers, who has been living in Russia for thirteen years since 2005, is convinced of this. Many in the West believe that in Russia it is very cold, gray, in stores - huge lines. In fact, this is not at all true. Moscow, according to the Italian, is a very developed and modern city, and the life of ordinary people in Russia and Italy is practically the same, if you do not pay attention to the minor nuances. Italian Gaia Pometto believes that Russians are portrayed in vain as harsh and uncommunicative people, because she came across friendly and welcoming people. Find the right approach - and they already smile at you, call you on a visit, introduce you to relatives, you become a friend, ”says Andrea Romani from Italy.

In the American media, they are trying to represent Russia as a totalitarian country, almost a clone of North Korea. Therefore, many Americans, arriving in Russia, expect surveillance of special services, some problems, and are very surprised that an ordinary foreigner is not of any interest to Russian counterintelligence. Many visitors note that in Russia they smile a little, are dry and laconic with strangers, but if you manage to make friends with a person, then the relationship becomes very close. Mental differences are manifested in crisis situations. Russians are much more resistant to any problems - from price hikes to non-payment of salaries. Economic difficulties do not infuriate them and do not interfere with maintaining an optimistic mood. In overcoming problems, Russians demonstrate incredible strength, ”says American Charlie Forrei, who studied in our country.

Ordinary people always find a common language, and stereotypes are largely created and cultivated by politicians and the mass media under their control. A powerful anti-Russian propaganda campaign is ongoing in the West, but the experience of the life of foreigners in Russia refutes the Russophobic “agitation”.

No need to flatter yourself. Foreigners are two-faced creatures by virtue of selfishness cultivated for decades, they everywhere adjust to the environment for their own benefit. In Russia, they say one thing, and as soon as they return home to their familiar environment, they immediately begin to "sing" "old songs" about "terrible" Russia, so as not to look like a "black sheep" in the eyes of others.

Well, this behavior and many citizens of Russia sin. They don’t even need to leave - at home they begin to pour mud on their own country.
