Italy will strike at anti-Russian sanctions

1
Several serious political The Italian forces, which are part of the center-right coalition that won the parliamentary elections, expressed their outrage at the expulsion of Russian diplomats in connection with the Sergei Skripal case. According to representatives of the parties "Forward, Italy!" and “The Brothers of Italy”, as well as the “League” movement, the decision to expel the Russians was made by the outgoing government and by no means meets the country's true political and economic interests. The Five Stars movement is no less resolute, gaining 32% in the parliamentary elections.

Italy is one of the few countries in Western Europe where critical attitudes towards the policies of the United States, NATO and the European Union are very strong. Italian politicians believe that anti-Russian sanctions in no way solve the Ukrainian problem, but they generate many negative consequences for economics European countries. Pro-Russian sympathies have not been hidden for a long time in the Liga movement - a few years ago its representatives called for lifting sanctions against Russia, and some of them even visited Crimea.

The head of the Italian think tank Vision & Global Trends, Tiberio Graziani, believes that the expulsion of Russian diplomats could cause significant damage to Italy's political image in the eyes of the Russian authorities. Therefore, the new government, if it really wants to act in the interests of the country and its people, should think about how to fix the situation. And it is possible that it will really reverse the decision of its predecessors, since now either the leader of the center-right Matteo Salvini or the leader of the Five Stars Luigi di Maio will become the prime minister of Italy. They are both filled with skepticism about the European Union and are determined to abandon the policy of sanctions.

Italy really seriously suffers from the policies of the United States, the European Union and NATO, which pursue their own interests. Thus, the EU migration policy entailed numerous social problems in the country, including an increase in the number of illegal migrants, an increase in crime, and anti-Russian sanctions led to the loss of tens of billions of euros. The most determined Italian businessmen. So, the president of the Russian branch of the Association of Italian Industrialists Ernesto Ferlengi emphasized that the Italian business can no longer lose such money and quotas in the market.

While most of the EU countries still follow London by inertia, with the help of Skripal's provocative case, they have achieved a new anti-Russian wave in the West. Only Austria and Greece refused to follow the British. If Italy joins these countries, then it will be possible to talk about the formation of an opposition in the European Union on the Russian issue. At the same time, unlike Austria or Greece, Italy is a very large country by European standards, which, moreover, has a strategic location. Brussels will not succeed in ignoring Rome, which means that it will be necessary, albeit gradually, to adjust its policy towards Russia.

Well, so far it is very rare who dares to break solidarity in the EU, although the process, as they say, has been launched. I think soon the most zealous Russophobes in the form of Poland and the Baltic states may join this process, the growth of nationalism in these countries and the reduction of EU subsidies will quickly cool the desire to oppose all of Russia. It is now especially important, at the end of the investigation, to identify and prove the lies of the provocateurs in the Skripal case at the international level, at a meeting of the UN session, not to allow the provocateurs to evade responsibility or at least achieve international condemnation of their actions. This is quite real, because the USA’s lie with the Owen test tube at the UN greatly damaged their international prestige.
