Forcing Zelensky: why Minsk cut gas supplies to Kiev

3
On the eve of the second round of presidential elections in Ukraine, Russia announced the introduction of a ban on the export of oil and oil products to this country. Just a few days later, Minsk announced a serious decline in the quality of Russian oil, which comes through the Druzhba pipeline,
and stopped the reception of raw materials. Moreover, authorities announced the failure of a key oil refinery, the equipment of which requires replacement.

Many in the West evaluated this step of Belarus as an open demarche against Moscow. Allegedly - finally Lukashenko found a worthy answer to the Kremlin’s full pressure. But not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance.

Not everyone managed to notice, but then the Belarusian authorities announced the cessation of gasoline and diesel exports to Ukraine, apparently due to a shortage of fuel inside the country. For Ukraine, such a scenario is akin to disaster, because about 80% of all fuel the country buys in Russia and Belarus.

An interesting picture is emerging. It seems that Russia and Belarus deliberately played a quarrel, the result of which was the cessation of the supply of petroleum products to Ukraine. Of course, deliveries will soon resume, but Kiev received a very clear signal that Moscow is ready to bring the new power to its knees if the anti-Russian rhetoric promoted by Petro Poroshenko continues.

As far as we know, Belarus has already resumed supplies, and in addition, fuel from Romania and Poland has gone to Ukraine. So "to bring the new government to its knees" is rather a slogan for "Hurray for patriots" to be proud
