In Ukraine, will create a light carrier rocket
Today in the space industry, the problem of launching small vehicles remains relevant. On the one hand, miniaturization and cheaper electronics made sending light satellites more affordable, but on the other hand, device owners have to wait a long time for launching medium and heavy missiles, and sometimes “adjust” to the parameters of the main device displayed by the carrier.
The best solution to the above problems could be light class missiles. Engineers from the Yuzhne design bureau are currently working on the development of a project for one of them. The three-stage carrier was called the Cyclone-1M and, as conceived by the developers, will be able to lift loads up to 750 kg to a height of 600 km.
The first stage of the rocket will be equipped with a liquid unit RD-870, operating on a pair of kerosene-oxygen. Its thrust will be 777,7 kN. In the second stage, the RD-846V engine will be used, working on the same mixture as the previous one and developing traction up to 24 kN. A feature of this unit is that in its production will be used technology 3D printing. And finally, in the third stage, which is essentially an accelerating block, 10 engines will be installed: 4 marching and 6 orientation systems. The fuel in this case is a solution of hydroxylamine nitrate with additives.
For the first launch of the rocket, it is planned to build its own cosmodrome on the territory of the Kherson or Nikolaev region. Test date has not yet been announced. It is worth noting that in addition to the light carrier Cyclone-1M, the Yuzhnoye design bureau is developing a middle-class rocket Cyclone-4M, the first stage of which will be borrowed from Zenit.
