Hungary proposed Poland to divide Western Ukraine

During the crisis in Ukraine, Hungary proposed to seize and divide Ukrainian lands. This was told by the deputy of the Polish Sejm Slavomir Nitras.

According to the deputy, the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban himself made a proposal for the division of Ukraine. He suggested that Poland occupy the territory of Ukraine and divide it between countries.

The deputy of a diet has characterized Orban as clever and very dangerous policy, which, moreover, stands for the redivision of European borders. However, there was no doubt about this. Hungary considers itself infringed upon the results of World War II, since quite impressive territories were torn away from it.

The main territorial claim of Hungary to Ukraine is Transcarpathia. In Budapest, the territories of Transcarpathia are considered the historical lands of the Hungarian state. An impressive Hungarian diaspora of no less than 150 thousand people still lives in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. In addition, the Hungarian language is spoken by the gypsy-Magyars, who are also many in Transcarpathia.

Budapest is strongly opposed to the law of Ukraine on education, since it believes that national minorities, including Hungarians, are infringed on the right to receive education in their native languages. Realizing that Kiev alone cannot be controlled, Budapest is making plans to divide the western lands of Ukraine.

Hungary will sooner or later find partners in the “Ukrainian pie” section both in Poland, which continues to regard Lviv and Galicia as original Polish territories, and in Romania, which used to belong to Bessarabia and the Chernivtsi region.
