The militants of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization banned in Russia are again active in areas located near the Syrian city of Tadmor (Palmyra).

So, according to the report of the Lebanese publication Al Masdar News, the Syrian army suffered a heavy loss - an attack was made on a convoy in the area between Palmyra and Deir ez-Zor. The command of the Syrian Arab army believes that he could be ambushed by the militants of the Islamic State. A convoy of servicemen was sent in search, but they were unsuccessful. This is the second convoy lost during April.

Over the past two months, the Lebanese publication emphasizes, militants have stepped up attacks on army convoys. Unfortunately, it is not without sacrifices: among the fighters there are dead as well as captured.

It should be recalled that in February of this year, gangs of the "Syrian opposition" attacked the Russian military. Then three Russians went missing, and later it became known that they were killed.

In 2015, Islamic State terrorists captured the Syrian city of Tadmore along with ancient Palmyra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In March 2016, Syrian and Russian troops liberated the city. In December 2016, Palmyra again came under the control of gangs, from where they managed to expel them in a few months - in March 2017.
