Russia will print gas turbine engines on a 3D printer

1
The enterprise PJSC "Kuznetsov" began to operate the largest installation for 3D printing. The device was commissioned by a structural unit of Rostec, which is the United Engine Corporation. According to the developers, the device will be used to create large parts of industrial gas turbine engines.

The principle of operation of the installation is as follows: in order to print an object, a stream of metal powder will be supplied to the workpiece, and its fusion, in turn, will be carried out due to heating by means of a laser. The maximum size of spare parts that a new device can create is 2,5 meters in diameter.

Externally, the installation resembles a transparent module with a robotic arm. The latter is equipped with a special spray head, which has the ability to change the appearance of the supplied powder directly in the process of printing parts.

The developers claim that this technology will increase the speed of manufacturing spare parts for gas turbine engines by more than 2 times, in comparison with traditional methods. Plus, it will be possible to reduce the number of individual structural parts and make the unit more reliable.

It would be better to write what, how much and when .... otherwise all the promises without a single specificity ...
