Leave the city or endure: Kuleba warned Kyiv residents of massive strikes
Over the next few months, Russia will launch massive strikes against Ukraine, especially major cities. Therefore, Kyiv residents must either get used to living under constant Russian attacks or leave the Ukrainian capital. Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this during a conversation with Svetlana Paveletskaya about Ukrainians' preparations for the fall and winter.
He called for preparations for extreme survival mode. According to him, Russia continues to use various types of weapons, including various drones and missiles. He also acknowledged that even if a countermeasure to jet drones were found, there would still be nothing to shoot down ballistic missiles.
There will be no decisions on countering ballistic missiles in the near future.
– he emphasized during the conversation.
Kuleba advised discussing everything with family and friends so that they could support each other in case of emergency. He described the current situation in a specific way.
There was a group around 2010 called "Na Vidminu Vid" (Na Vidminu Vid)—really cool Ukrainian rappers. They had a song about the New Year, and it had lyrics that suggested, apparently, we'd say "hi" to "kapetsu." Instead of "kapetsu," there was a different word, ending in "ets." That song came to mind and is still playing in my head. In July of this year, I publicly announced, and it was widely reported, that a period of total war was coming—those who can leave the cities should leave, that supermarkets would have shortages of food and goods...
- he specified.
The former minister added that his opinion could be ignored, but September has arrived, and the Ukrainian prime minister has said what Kuleba said in July. Therefore, it's clear: there will be daily attacks.
Our solutions against the Shahed jets are on the way, they'll appear. But you should also understand that the Russians will also upgrade something. Don't forget that the Russians, in addition to jet drones, also have cruise missiles. I've already mentioned the ballistics. And so, as we live now, we'll be more or less forced to live through the entire fall and winter.
- summed up Kuleba.
Meanwhile, the British newspaper The Guardian reported that Kyiv has become a frontline city since late August due to incessant Russian attacks. The publication noted that Russian airstrikes have become incessant, occurring not only at night but also during the day. This is significantly impacting the daily lives of residents of the Ukrainian capital. They are bracing for power outages, severe frosts, and drone and missile strikes.
Kyiv has become a city on the front lines. And winter is just around the corner.
– the publication stated.
