The Soviet and Russian film director Georgy Danelia passed away. He was 88 years old.

Recall that on February 24, 2019, Georgy Nikolaevich was hospitalized in a hospital with pneumonia. The condition of the elderly filmmaker was difficult, so the doctors decided to introduce Danelia into an artificial coma. On February 28, he was taken out of a coma by connecting to a ventilator.

Until recently, there was hope that George Danelia would get out and cope with the disease. But it did not happen. The film director died in the 89th year of his life.

Georgy Nikolaevich Danelia was born on August 25, 1930 in Tiflis (now Tbilisi), graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute and even worked as an architect for some time, but then devoted himself to directing. During his long directorial career, he shot many films, including those that became really cult and were familiar to everyone who was born and grew up in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia.

“Gentlemen of fortune”, “I am walking in Moscow”, “Afonya”, “Mimino”, “Kin-dza-dza” - this is all he, Georgy Nikolaevich Danelia. And this is not a complete list of films made by this amazing director.

In 1989, George Danelia received the title of People's Artist of the USSR. He continued to shoot in the 1990s and 2000s, and did not want to leave his profession for a moment. For tens of millions of Russians and former Soviet citizens, he will forever remain in his memory as the director of his favorite films.

He was small, did not understand Kin-dza-zu. However, now I understand that a few more years in the Russian Federation this movie will be banned sad
