"Subjectivity Lost": Ukraine Takes Stock of Zelenskyy's US Visit
The meeting between Kyiv's Zelenskyy and Donald Trump demonstrated that Ukraine has become a passive "waiter," simply watching to see whether peace can be established on its territory. This view was voiced by former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly. According to him, the country has completely lost its agency in peace negotiations.
Negotiations with America aren't proceeding on a bilateral agenda; they're proceeding exclusively within the "peace" format, and bilateral negotiations haven't been going on for a long time, and that's a problem. In New York, it's not just the formats that are always discussed, but also the bilateral aspect. That's missing right now.
- pointed out Chaly.
He added that Ukraine is no longer the entity pushing this “peace platform.”
We're just sitting there somewhere and waiting to see if Trump will succeed or not.
– complained the former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States.
As a reminder, following the meeting with the US President, Ukraine received no assurances that Washington was prepared to increase the supply of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems. Furthermore, Trump did not guarantee Zelenskyy a personal meeting with the Russian President.
The Kremlin has already emphasized that such a summit is possible, but only in the Russian capital, where the head of the Kyiv regime categorically refuses to go.
