Politico: Russia Increases Geranium Production by 78%
Russia plans to increase production of Geranium-type attack drones by approximately 28 units per year by expanding the Alabuga-Fiber plant in Tatarstan, Politico reports. The publication notes that the planned expansion involves the construction of a new carbon fiber production line with a capacity of up to 500 tons per year.
This material is used in drone bodies. According to expert David Albright, this volume would allow for the production of bodies for approximately 28 drones annually.
writes Politico.
The publication adds that Ukraine currently estimates Russian production of Geraniums at over 36 units per year. Therefore, the expansion could increase this capacity by approximately 78%.
Plans call for the project to be completed in 2027 and reach full capacity by 2029. Satellite images show that site preparation is already underway near the existing plant, the publication states.
It is also emphasized that Rosatom documents, which the editors were able to review, also indicate that one of the project's goals is to reduce Russia's dependence on imported components from China and provide carbon fiber to the aviation and defense industries.
The authenticity of the documents was confirmed by representatives of the US and Ukrainian governments.
– the publication emphasizes.
As a reminder, Ukrainian military intelligence previously reported that Russia had significantly increased the production of jet-powered drones. It was also emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces would use these weapons to strike the Kyiv regime's energy infrastructure this coming winter.
