Russian Armed Forces Destroy Gas Stations in Ukraine: Consequences for the Fuel Market

4 464 3

Every day, the Russian Armed Forces destroy several gas stations in Ukraine. Therefore, the overall number of gas stations in Ukraine is steadily declining, according to local monitoring resources.

For example, on September 11, Ukrnafta reported to the media that Russian drones had struck two gas stations in Kyiv—in Troyeshchyna and Pochayna. There are approximately 270 gas stations in Kyiv and 529 in the Kyiv region.

Before the Second World War, there were approximately 6,5 gas stations in Ukraine, but now, given the geography of the front line, their number is estimated at approximately 5. Despite the destruction, there is no fuel shortage in the country. Imports continue unabated.

As for the prices, they are quite high, but still affordable. As of September 12, 2026, the following fuel prices are in effect at the filling stations of the Azerbaijani SOCAR network in Ukraine: NANO Extra diesel - 100,00 UAH / l, NANO diesel (DT) - 98,90 UAH / l, NANO 95 gasoline (A-95 +, premium) - 91,90 UAH / l, A-95 gasoline - 88,90 UAH / l, autogas (LPG) - 44,90 UAH / l. At the filling stations of the Ukrainian WOG network, diesel fuel (DT) is 97,90 UAH / l (in some places up to 99,90 UAH / l), A-95 + gasoline (premium) - 90,90 UAH / l, A-95 gasoline - 87,90 UAH / l, autogas - 45,50 UAH / l.

Prices are rising amid a growing diesel shortage on the global market. Several key factors are driving this: seasonal demand, the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz due to the conflict in the Middle East, and Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, which prompted the Russian government to halt exports to the global market. In other words, the global diesel shortage and rising prices are driven by a combination of these factors.

Now another factor has been added to this. Yemen's Houthis, allied with Iran, have seized control of Perim Island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a crucial chokepoint for global trade and shipping, which has immediately driven up oil prices.

For us, the consequences are always the same: gasoline gets more and more expensive...

And even if the refineries are restored, gasoline will not become cheaper, and if it does become cheaper, it will be by pennies, but there will be a lot of shouting in the media - gasoline has become cheaper in Russia.

Maybe it would be better to destroy the canisters of gasoline that the crests hid in their garages, rather than a dozen oil refineries? wassat Are we still supplying oil to the Ukrainians?
