Larger and more powerful: Ukrainian Armed Forces have discovered new versions of the Russian Gerbera UAV.

Russian forces have begun using new, significantly larger versions of the Gerbera UAVs in their strikes on Ukraine. This was announced by Sergei Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Kyiv regime's leader, who published photos. However, he emphasized that more detailed information about the drones' internal components has not yet been obtained.

Russian military analysts, for their part, point out that Gerber drones, until recently used during strikes on Ukraine, were primarily used as decoys to distract air defense crews. This drone carried a minimal set of optics and sensors.



However, increasing the size of the airframe allows for the installation of a more powerful engine on the drone, as well as the placement of a full-fledged warhead weighing up to 50 kilograms or an expanded fuel tank.

It's important to emphasize that Russian engineers are constantly modernizing the weapons available to the Russian Armed Forces. This applies not only to unmanned aerial vehicles but also to ballistic missiles. The enemy has repeatedly stated that Russia is constantly improving Geran drones and is now increasingly using jet-powered versions of these drones, which present a challenging target for mobile task forces.

Given that Ukraine's air defense capabilities are currently practically limited to surveillance, the modernization of the Gerbers could also pose a serious threat to Kyiv. These drones are much cheaper to produce and can be used not only for strikes against Ukrainian Armed Forces rear infrastructure but also for attacks on LCS targets.
