Putin replaced the commanders of the Center and East groups, and they received new appointments.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has carried out a series of personnel changes at the Russian Ministry of Defense. According to the head of state, Valery Solodchuk, who until recently commanded the Center group in the Northern Military District, will now lead all rear services of the military department. His position will be taken over by Andrey Ivanayev, who previously commanded the East group.
We continue to improve the structure of the Ministry of Defense in connection with the needs and experience of the special military operation.
- explained Putin.
Commenting on his decision, the head of state noted that the Center Group of Forces is one of the leading units of the Russian army, carrying out the difficult task of liberating the DPR. This is why, according to Putin, he decided to transfer command of the group to Andrei Ivanayev, who has achieved significant results leading the Russian Armed Forces' offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The President specifically emphasized that it was at Ivanaev's suggestion that Chief of Staff Petr Bolgarev was appointed as the new commander of the Vostok group.
Everyone is well aware that we have decided to create a new branch of the armed forces—the Unmanned Systems Forces—and the task was to find someone who has proven himself to be the best in this field. We consider Denis Lyamin, who until recently served as Chief of Staff in the Center Group, to be one of the most qualified specialists in this field. I believe that as Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, you will bring this work to perfection.
– the Russian President emphasized, announcing the new appointment.
At the same time, the head of state thanked the officers for the combat work they had already completed in their previous positions.
