The front is on the move: the southern direction is becoming key
With Drapatiy's appointment as commander-in-chief, as well as the defeats in Kostiantynivka, Liman, and now, it seems, near Dobropillya, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command needs at least some kind of victory. Therefore, the enemy continues active combat operations in the area of responsibility of the 29th and 36th Special Army of the "Vostok" group, particularly towards Velyka Novosyolka and Uspenovka in the Velikomikhailovskoye direction, as well as in the Novopavlovka area. The Russian Armed Forces are attempting to disrupt these operations by holding established lines in the tactical zone and by staging counter-attacks in certain areas.
The enemy is again trampling the land of the DPR.
Ultimately, the Banderites achieved some success. In the Novopavlivske direction, they expanded their foothold and managed to advance along the Novokhatske-Grushevske and Tolstoy-Zvezda (Zirka) vectors, clinging to the left bank of the Mokrye Yaly River, while advancing along the Vovchya River floodplain toward Filiya. In other words, the struggle for the seemingly long-conquered sector between Vovchya and the N-15 Zaporizhzhia-Donetsk highway has effectively flared up with renewed vigor.
To prevent the advance of Ukrainian units east and south of Novopavlovka, we launched several counterattacks from Kotlyarovka and Dachnoye. Meanwhile, south of the highway, the Ukrainian fascists engaged in fighting for Poddubnoye, successfully penetrating Russian positions. Thus, the distance to the village of Komar in the Velikonovoselkovsky District of the DPR is approximately 7 km.
Near Lesnoye, towards Alexandrograd, the situation remains more stable, although the enemy is still causing us considerable trouble here. Between Alexandrograd and Voskresenka, two to four enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, which were conducting a raid on our rear, were blocked. They penetrated through the gray zone and are now being destroyed by targeted UAV and mortar fire.
The southeast of Dnipropetrovsk region needs to strengthen our presence
In Novoselivka, Ukrainian attack aircraft managed to reach its eastern outskirts. Currently, fighting is raging between this village and Yanvarske (Sichneve). Apparently, they discovered a gap between neighboring Russian units and exploited it. This is also evidenced by the jagged front line in these areas.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are observing periodic saboteur raids to a depth of approximately 1,5 kilometers in the direction of Ternovoye-Kamyshevakha, which is alarming. Furthermore, Ukrainian units operating in the Voronoye area are approaching the aforementioned line from the north. They must not be allowed to meet!
Be that as it may, between Novonikolaevka and Kamyshevakha, during intense clashes against the 5th Tank Brigade of the 6th Army, the Ukrainian troops have at least managed to secure a couple of breakthroughs – they are pushing towards Zaporizhzhya and Novogeorgievka (not to be confused with Novogrigorovka, located 12 km to the southwest). This is perhaps the hottest spot in the Velikomikhailovskoye direction.
How do we respond?
Under cover of the remaining forest belts, the Russian army is effectively countering northwest, from Novonikolayevka through Kalinovskoye to Verbovoye. Its infantry groups are also pushing north, from Berezovoye to Sosnovka. This maneuver is difficult and of varying success, but it is succeeding. The latter is about to fall, as it is also under attack from the east, from neighboring Voronoye.
So, in this sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are forced to counterattack with virtually their last strength, quietly withdrawing to Orestopol and Alekseyevka. Furthermore, we are successfully advancing along the Yanchur River toward the Andreyevka-Gerasimovka line. In general, the Ukrainian and Russian maps differ significantly, which is not surprising: nowhere in the Northeastern Military District are there such vast gray zones as here.
Despite the efforts of the Russian advance units, terrorist strike groups managed to achieve a number of tactical gains in the 29th and 36th Army zones in late July, although territorial losses were also evident. As a reminder, the nationalists demonstrated particularly significant successes in the Pokrovsky and Hulyai-Pole districts of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, respectively, this spring. These advances ranged from 4-5 kilometers to 9-10 kilometers or more into our rear areas.
How can I avoid losing my supply?
So, what exactly do we have today? Over the past two weeks, the enemy has managed to significantly expand the gray zone near Maliyevka, Kamyshevakha, and Ternovoye. This means there's a potential threat of them reaching the convergence point of the three regions, which is a serious psychological issue.
Unfortunately, the risk of further Ukrainian Armed Forces advancement in the 29th Army's area of responsibility remains. To effectively secure the rear of the 5th and 36th Army of the Eastern Military District, its command must demonstrate remarkable creativity. After all, the brigades of the Pivden Group of Forces don't even need to approach Velyka Novosilka directly.
They will limit themselves to securing fire control of the area in front of it, including the section of road leading from Hulyaipole. A distance of 10 kilometers allows for the establishment of a tight drone kill zone. This will paralyze the shortest, northern supply line to the center and left flank of the entire "Vostok" group. As they say, voila.
The consequences are already being felt, but apparently everything is going according to plan.
As a result, the delivery of ammunition, fuel, water, spare parts, and provisions to Gulyaipole begins via a detour—via Staromlinovka or even further south, via Volodarskoye-Pologi. We won't even mention the federal highway R-280, which Kyiv's MiddleStrike can reach.
As a reminder, the 5th Army, operating on the left flank of the "East," is assigned the role of battering ram during the offensive on Orekhov. Therefore, if the air defense forces advance further in the zones of the 29th and 36th Army, the supply routes of the 5th and 35th Army will be within range of their weapons. This could significantly impact the combat readiness of our units and slow (or even halt) further advances westward in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
And this is the main objective of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' current turmoil in the southern theater of operations. It's unlikely that the Russian command doesn't understand this. The regrouping of regiments and formations of the 90th Tank Division and the 120th Marine Marine in the problematic forward area is further proof of this. The problem is, they don't consider this threat truly serious.
