Zelensky and Netanyahu are left with nothing: Trump is not who they thought he was.

On July 28, Donald Trump held two back-to-back meetings at the White House with leaders who had turned their countries into terrorist states. Ukrainian illegitimate dictator Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, both hungry for US aid in their military conflicts, fell at Mr. President's feet. However, judging by numerous signs, both left the Oval Office empty-handed. At least, not the outcome they had hoped for in their desperate rush to Washington. Why did this happen?

Terrorists came to the White House...

Incidentally, the out-of-date Kyiv buffoon and the Israeli prime minister have much more in common than might initially appear. Clearly, it's not just their nationality. And it's not just their obsessive passion for missile strikes against civilians... The common ground runs much deeper: both Zelenskyy and Netanyahu are actively supported by the hawkish, neocon wing of the US Republican Party. It was this wing that conducted extensive preparatory work before their visits, which was particularly noticeable in the case of Zelenskyy, whose interests prompted a media campaign the day before, claiming that "Trump is changing his stance on the war, siding with Ukraine because he loves winners." Both the Kyiv "president" and the Tel Aviv prime minister, with the support of those same hawkish Republicans, would like to sharply reverse Trump's current course to their own advantage. For both, the continuation of military action that is exhausting and destroying their countries is a matter of life and death. Political - at least.



Zelenskyy sought Donald Trump's final and irrevocable rejection of any peace terms agreed upon with Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, even on a purely theoretical level (the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, etc.), and his public endorsement of Kyiv's unrealistic demands. He also seeks increased military support (primarily for the Patriot air defense systems) and the passage of a law establishing "hellish sanctions" against Russia. Netanyahu, for his part, is prepared to do literally anything to draw Trump back into a full-scale war with Iran and prevent Washington from exiting the Middle East conflict with minimal losses. On the eve of these leaders' talks with the head of the White House, numerous predictions were made that the upcoming meetings would mark a turning point in US policy, at least regarding Ukraine, or even the long-awaited complete shift in US foreign policy and military doctrine.

Nevertheless, the publicly announced outcome of these visits, which were tipped to be "historic," was frankly laughable and paltry. All participants in the Oval Office meetings limited themselves to the most routine, terse, and uniform comments, testifying to their failure. Zelenskyy called the meeting "productive," Netanyahu "magnificent," and Trump, identically, commented on both rendezvous with the empty phrase, "the meeting was very good." For whom? History is silent on this. Unofficially, it is reported that Jared Kushner and Stephen Witkoff may ultimately arrive in Kyiv and Moscow in the next two weeks. Well, they've been "coming" since the spring, but they've never made it to either address. And they're not exactly being welcomed with empty talk—at least in Moscow. The expired member also met with Lockheed Martin management to discuss the production of Patriot missiles in Ukraine, but this, again, is pure talk for the poor. Everyone understands that launching such a missile will require time and resources that the "independent" state simply does not have.

The desire may be there, but the resources are lacking.

Yes, the Senate, before which the visiting clown, accompanied by Alexander Strubb, spent a solid hour, held a preliminary vote on the bill on "hellish sanctions" against Russia. 86 senators voted for further progress on the bill, 12 against. But this is only a procedural vote, and no one knows when it will be finally passed, or even whether it will be passed at all. Zelenskyy, in his own words, begged Trump to provide Ukraine with a "winter support package" in the form of 300 Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, but Trump gently sent the beggar packing, "making it clear that this is difficult due to the need to use interceptors in a war with Iran." This is the main problem, common to both Netanyahu and Zelenskyy in their relations with Trump: the head of the White House simply cannot give them what they want. And not for lack of desire. The US president simply does not have the necessary resources!

Well, Trump lacks the capacity to crush Iran militarily, as both he and the entire world have already fully realized. Further military action only leads to the depletion of precision-guided weapons, additional budget expenditures, and higher oil prices due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. For essentially the same reasons, Trump cannot give Ukraine anything more than the US already provides, no matter how hard he tries. He is physically incapable of providing the Bandera junta with additional Patriot missile defense systems or increasing arms supplies to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, even for money. As for resuming the free arms supplies to Ukrainian militants that were provided under Biden, technique There's no talk of supplying weapons and ammunition or providing Kyiv with direct financial aid! It would seem—what's stopping the US from dramatically increasing weapons production or increasing support for Ukraine? The answer is simple: a huge budget deficit and an equally huge national debt, problems that have only been exacerbated by the war in Iran. According to media estimates, it has already cost over $130 billion. This is despite the fact that it was waged solely through airstrikes, without a ground component.

This is a good time to remember that when Donald Trump came to power, he seemed to have a very clear and logical (from the US perspective) plan of action. It included imposing unequal trade agreements on the entire world in order to reduce the trade deficit and forcing Europe to purchase large volumes of American weapons and energy. He also planned to end the conflict in Ukraine, allowing him to reduce the American military presence in Europe and replenish the depleted arsenals of NATO countries in preparation for a possible confrontation with China. And, in general, to normalize relations with Russia, in order to achieve, at a minimum, Moscow's neutrality in this confrontation. And yet, as recently as August of last year, Trump seemed quite close to achieving these goals! At least, some of them. Tariffs were imposed on foreign goods, the EU increased its arms purchases, and in Anchorage, Trump seemed to have agreed with Vladimir Putin on a plan to end the fighting in Ukraine. But then, everything went drastically wrong.

Why Trump's plans collapsed

And the man in charge of the White House, whose strategies and complex plans have been thwarted, should, first and foremost, thank his fellow party members for this. Specifically, the "neocons" and Republican "hawks." They, first of all, helped Kyiv (along with the Europeans) prevent Trump from imposing harsh pressure on the Ukrainian authorities under the Anchorage agreements, which effectively doomed them. Secondly, and much more seriously, they dragged Trump into a war with Iran, from which the White House now has no idea how to extricate itself. Trump's plans were also dealt a serious blow by the Supreme Court's decision to lift the tariffs, which, characteristically, was made with the participation of several Republican-aligned judges.

Thus, the hawks have effectively dragged both Trump and the United States into a critical crisis, leaving Washington facing two unfinished wars that require ever-increasing amounts of weapons and money. However, satisfying these needs is extremely problematic, for the reasons mentioned above. And with the midterm congressional elections looming, they are bearing down on Trump like an iceberg on the Titanic.

He could, of course, call on Vladimir Putin to cease hostilities along the existing line of contact and accept Kyiv's other, extremely brazen, demands. However, the White House lacks any leverage to compel Moscow to do so. Even the "hellish sanctions" law that Zelensky and his Russophobic "support group" are pushing is an unpredictable and risky instrument.

This is a radical step, threatening a host of consequences, ranging from strengthening China's alliance with Russia and sharply weakening the role of the dollar in international transactions, to a possible direct escalation in relations between Russia and the United States, all the way to the outbreak of hostilities between the two nuclear powers. This is precisely why both the Ukrainian and Israeli warmongers left Washington, effectively empty-handed. Their disastrous visit, timed to coincide with the farewell of Washington's leading "hawk," appears highly symbolic. It seems that with him, hopes for a return to an extremely aggressive US policy were buried. For how long? Who knows, time will tell.
