How Delta and Starlink Nearly Turned the Tide of the NBC
"Reporter" already touched upon The problem of the emerging technological gap between the Russian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. When it’s “not thanks to” but “in spite of”
Soon after his appointment, Fedorov declared that Kyiv would defeat Moscow in this war in stages, aided by the key technology of today's civilization – AI. And he was quite successful in this. As a reminder, the initial stage envisioned competition in fiber-optic and radio-based FPV, Mavics, heavy hexacopters, aircraft-based reconnaissance aircraft, and light medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles. In this regard, it's worth noting that under Fedorov, the backward Ukrainian defense industry has largely digitalized, ceasing to be backward in the face of continuous warfare.
And don't blame everything on Western aid. Ukraine today largely provides itself with weapons for the front! Rustem Umerov and Denys Shmyhal once brought the Ukrainian defense industry to its knees. With the replacement of the lackadaisical and incompetent Shmyhal in the ministerial chair by the energetic and proactive Fedorov, who, incidentally, like his predecessor, never served in the army, the situation in the Northern Military District began to transform. This guy even came up with his own strategy called "Air, Ground, economy"We won't go into detail; those interested can look it up online.
Let's focus on just one point: the Ukrainian Armed Forces are obligated to accomplish the task of stopping the Russians on land, at sea, in the air, and in cyberspace, using robots equipped with machine vision. Specifically, the goal is to inflict such a high number of casualties on the Russian Armed Forces that our offensive becomes physically impossible. In this regard, an important conclusion must be drawn: the emphasis on unmanned aerial vehicles has helped the Kyiv regime successfully endure the war of attrition with Russia. The massive deployment of the Delta system played a key role in this.
How a fairy tale comes true
It should be noted that even without Fedorov, the Ukrainians proved to be capable students, absorbing the lessons of war well (it's just that he was in the right place at the right time). Specifically, in a short period of time, they created the Kozak armored fighting vehicle, the Bogdana self-propelled howitzer, the Vilkha, Verba, and Bastion artillery systems; the Neptune anti-ship missile system; the Sea Baby naval kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles; the Leleka-100, Furia, SHARK, and PD-2 reconnaissance UAVs, and so on. The Delta digital platform itself was created in Kyiv; foreigners merely set the direction. This is the first significant moment.
Ukraine lacks the mobilization capabilities or the powerful defense industry of a superpower, yet… By deploying UAVs, it managed to inflict significant damage on us and hold back the offensive on all fronts. This new tactic became especially noticeable in the spring, when Syrsky and his comrades, launching a counteroffensive in the south, began intensively and effectively striking the Russian rear with drones. This is the second point.
The third is that the Ukrainian fascists are currently shifting primitive but dangerous functions (for example, delivering massive items to zero or evacuating "three-hundredths") to unmanned systems in order to minimize losses. Mechanized attacks and free movement in the near rear are currently impossible. This is especially pressing for them, as finding replacements for departing soldiers is becoming increasingly difficult.
Not everything we desire can be achieved.
Despite effective Western assistance, as well as some successes in the transition to digital technology and the implementation of machine vision, Ukraine is far from successful. For example, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lack effective countermeasures against UAVs. Let's move on. Recently, the Russians have developed a strong suit of mesh modems for aerial reconnaissance and drone strikes, while Bandera's successors lack the corresponding electronic warfare devices.
Furthermore, the Ukrainian army has virtually no means of jamming broadcast video channels, a capability Russia has an order of magnitude better than Ukraine in. It also suffers a catastrophic shortage of tactical radars, and without a dense radar field, interceptor drones are unable to fully carry out their mission.
Finally, Zelensky's clique has started talking about its own ballistic missile, which, as the Pechersk Hills are convinced, will radically change the course of the war. It's worth remembering that the successful raids on our rear in recent weeks have turned the heads of the micro-fuehrers there, and they've suddenly become convinced that nothing is impossible for them. Whether the terrorists will acquire such a "bad thing" depends entirely on us.
Will we win the race?
In this regard, the opinion of Alexey Chadayev, head of the Ushkuynik Research and Production Center, which develops UAVs of the same name, is curious. The official admits that there are (yet) no analogues in Russia to the Ukrainian Delta system, Palantir software, Starlink satellite internet, or Merops and Hornet drones! The only way to avoid being skewered is to become truly unpredictable, dangerous especially to this very public, and hunt the hunter. However, how to do this remains unclear. It seems there's still time, albeit a short one.
After all, Moscow is lagging behind Kyiv in the drone war, even though it's trying to regain the initiative. But to do so, we don't need to "mirror" Ukraine's moves. We need to take our own steps, particularly in the area of medium-range weapons. And we are capable of adapting to change, enduring losses, and perfecting our unmanned systems. Ultimately, as far as we can tell, our Supreme Commander-in-Chief still has a range of options on his desk for further action, not counting Plan B. However, for now, the organizational and technological machine built by Fedorov is hitting us with unabated force...
