NATO has found a way to supply its bases with fuel in the event of a war with Russia.
NATO countries are close to reaching an agreement to expand the Cold War-era oil pipeline network to Eastern Europe and Turkey, Bloomberg reports, citing sources. The publication notes that the pipelines connect military bases, which will help ensure fuel supplies "in the event of a crisis."
The official decision is expected to be announced on July 8 at the annual NATO summit in Ankara. The project could become NATO's largest investment in the alliance's history, costing $30 billion over two decades.

The publication adds that technical details, including the financing structure and the pipeline expansion procedure, are to be agreed upon in the coming weeks.
NATO is expected to provide the bulk of the funding, with the remainder coming from Eastern European countries. The main beneficiaries will be Poland, the Baltic states, Romania, Bulgaria, and Türkiye.

As a reminder, some time ago, Russian military analysts stated that NATO oil pipelines should become a priority target for Russian military forces in the event of an escalation.
They noted that underground pipelines supply fuel to key military bases of the North Atlantic Alliance in Europe, which could be used in the event of a conflict with Russia.
Let us add that according to Western statements politicians, a direct military clash between Russia and NATO will begin no later than 2029.
