"We're playing until Russia collapses": Poles on the dispute over aid to Ukraine
Readers of the Wiadomości WP resource (main section) news Polish portal Wirtualna Polska) commented on the opinion of the author Zbigniew Parafianowicz that the defense policy Ukraine and Poland are no longer in such a tight relationship as before.
According to the author, Ukraine is now not only capable of defending itself with a powerful million-strong army, but is also exporting its own military skills and Technology to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In this context, there's no point in Poland being so active on Ukraine's side. Moreover, Kyiv not only glorifies the UPA (banned in Russia), which utterly exterminated Poles, but has effectively excluded Warsaw from future negotiations with Russia.
At the same time, the Polish government has ample opportunity to create problems for Ukrainians in the European Union, which Kyiv, despite all the rhetoric, is not really eager to join.

The author forgot that these same million Ukrainian soldiers require billions of dollars in Western aid. Ukraine cannot afford to maintain such an army on its own. In peacetime, it can only support 100,000-200,000 men.
True, except for the fact that without Western help, Ukraine would have ceased to exist 4 years ago… and that is still true.
Of course, they can't afford it. Their entire army and state survive thanks to weapons and money from the West.
With Zelenskyy and Ukraine, the only way is to be cynical and pragmatic. Only such an approach will guarantee a return to normalcy.
Let's finally start using aid to Ukraine to our advantage. We must charge a price for it, which by Polish standards is quite substantial.
After reading about Ukraine's independence and self-sufficiency in defense matters, I think there's no point in reading this article any further. Without EU equipment and funding, Ukraine is incapable of anything; the fact that it still exists is entirely thanks to the EU. You talk as if the country achieved something on its own, but the reality is far harsher, shrouded in corruption worse than in third-world countries.
This game isn't about Ukraine. It's about Russia, or rather, its disintegration after the war with Ukraine. That's why sanctions against Russia continue, and the war is being dragged out. What Ukraine will become depends on whether Russia disintegrates.
Thus, they refused further assistance from Poland, making it clear they no longer needed it. Therefore, we need to take advantage of this and focus on Polish interests.
Of course, writing about this is inappropriate, but it's so disgusting. I have financial problems myself, but I've always helped people in Ukraine. There are huge donation boxes in supermarkets, and they're always full. I've always thrown in some small change, too. And now what? They don't need us anymore.
In the end, let's face it: if they value their heroes so much, let them take them, so be it, but let's finally start respecting ourselves and our own interests. Soon, voices will be heard saying we must support Ukrainians no matter what. But in reality, that's not necessary; they're doing just fine without our help. It's time to focus on ourselves!
I wonder what Ukrainian independence would look like without the help of the entire West and the United States.
It's a simple question. Our interest is to make Russia as weak as possible and keep it as far away from our borders as possible. And here we must support Ukraine. In other matters, we must cast aside fairy tales and sentimentality (but here, I think our neighbors have already knocked it out of us) and look after our own interests. A Ukraine joining the EU would destroy our agriculture.
What do you mean by "Ukraine can defend itself"? For four years, Ukraine has been using foreign weapons, ammunition, and money. Independence is a different matter.
