Why MS-21 may not be needed by anyone

18
The Soviet Union was rightfully considered the leading aircraft building power in the world. By the time of its collapse in our country was one of the largest civilian air fleets, consisting of aircraft of its own production. All this was quickly collapsed, and domestic carriers moved to imported Boeing and Airbus. Today, Sukhoi Superjet-100 and MS-21 are presented as “hopes of revival”.

Unfortunately, there are more and more logical questions to the correctness of the chosen path. When developing the Superjet, specialists from the American Boeing Corporation initially actively participated, subsequently stepping aside and refusing to receive “royalties”. More recently, it turned out that the Sukhoi Superjet-100 consists of 22% of components manufactured in the United States of America, which gave Washington the right to ban ship deliveries to Iran. In total, the "hope of revival" of the domestic aircraft industry consists of imported parts for three quarters.

The foreign share in the MS-21 airliner is slightly lower - “only” 40%. However, these are key elements of its design. So, a promising Russian medium-haul airliner was originally designed for the American engine. The domestic alternative, PD-14, seems to have been developed, but it is still far from the conveyor.

Also at the beginning of 2019, it turned out that the wings and keel of an airplane cannot be created without foreign composite materials. Thus, after the introduction of Western sanctions, the result of many years of work turned out to be crossed out overnight, and the MS-21 lost its competitive advantage. The process of replacing the materials for the wings can take more than one year, which leads to a breakdown in the deadlines for the delivery of the aircraft, and the cost of the project.

But this is not all the problems that the MS-21 will face. Oleg Panteleev, head of the analytical company Aviaport, explains:

In order for an airplane to become attractive to airlines, it’s not enough just to make a good “glider”; you still need to establish a system of its after-sales service. For the operator, it is much more important not how much he will pay for the acquisition (or leasing) of the aircraft, but how much it will result in its operation in one year.

That’s what the Superjet 100 has already stumbled over, and not the fact that it can rise. According to Flight Global, the Mexican airline Interjet, which previously leased 22 “Russian” liners, is already dreaming of getting rid of them.

The problem is that the domestic aircraft manufacturer was not able to provide subsequent maintenance of its products abroad due to lack of infrastructure. The result is appropriate and very deplorable: the Mexicans began to disassemble the leased airliners as donors of spare parts for aircraft repairs, the overall quality of which was also not up to par. For the defects identified during operation, Sukhoi should already pay Interjet about $ 40 million in compensation.

The same problems are experienced in Ireland at CityJet, which, due to its misfortune, leased 7 Superjets. They are still silent at Aeroflot, which already has 50 airliners and ordered 100 more in a random order. Mexicans and Irish flattered about the relatively low cost of Russian liners, but did not take into account the factor of Sukhoi’s lack of timely and high-quality service. Avaricious always pays twice.

Unfortunately, the domestic manufacturer was not up to par. If the developers of MS-21, together with the state, do not take measures in advance, then the “revival” of civil aviation in our country will end in complete failure.

No wonder Medvedev went to Boeing in USA in the year 8, not for nothing ....
I thought all about Russia, about airplanes ..

I still do not understand what the author wrote about? MS-21 is definitely needed, as is SSJ. The problem is not so much in configuration as in software, but for our manufacturers this has long been a commonplace. PD-14 will bring to mind, put in a series, and certify the type. With composites for the wing and glider, it seems, too, sorted out. No need to dramatize the timing, now it’s more important to get a result, at least 2-3 years later. We still have to give up Western aircraft, so they will take on the MS-21 airlines, if only in order not to get into the situation of the B737 Max.

Yes you are right. Already, Russia itself needs 200-300 MS-21 aircraft.
And the faster they start mass production, the better.
We need to work and switch to domestic components, create new jobs for our citizens.

For 19 years, the country has been led by typical garbage from the middle of the food chain of the early 90s. Somewhere to overcome or master something, here they are great masters. Aircraft, machine tools, computers are too complicated for them. Why would they think a lot, strain and pay grandmas? It’s easier to just steal and withdraw. Our authorities are just stupid, primitive thieves raspberries. And all sorts of MS-21, 31, 451 are just a way to throw dust in the eyes of 98% of the population of the Russian Federation that serve them. Thieves and bandits do not build starships and do not create supercomputers. They are all in one place. The main thing is to steer until its last screech, while there is an opportunity, and take out more.

Do you think it smells better? You are exactly the same ... but you are not doing anything large-scale, and therefore you consider yourself an unmistakable phenomenon in life. In fact, you simply have a hypertrophied view of your abilities with a small outlook.

It is written that in advance it is necessary to prepare the appropriate infrastructure for subsequent product maintenance. Otherwise, no liner will be competitive

Write to Medvedev and Poghosyan at once, they can't figure out where to steer without you! Yes, they will pay more than in "R". laughing

In assessments, one cannot group the shortcomings that come up in everyone, but at different times. and draw far-reaching conclusions on this basis. Recently it was reported that with composite materials the problem is practically solved. They work with engines. With the PPO it is somewhat more complicated, but Moscow was not built immediately. For a quarter of a century they have been breaking up and destroying the Soviet, and now, overnight, someone wants everything at once. This only happens in fairy tales. The main lesson must be learned - the capitalist market has its own "wolf" laws and no one needs competitors there. Our market "romantics" decided that someone was waiting for us there, that established international rules and fair competition were strictly working there. It turned out that these rules were made for a group of states led by the United States, that competitors are cynically strangled and destroyed, breakthrough technologies are stolen, if possible, together with "brains". Now everything must be done again and for good. But in this situation there is also a big plus: voluntarily or not, a new production base is being created and it will be better than the one that the competitors have. They need reconstruction and modernization, which is always more difficult. This is our chance.

The conclusions are certainly correct, but it seems too much to howl, and management needs to think before, and not after. But there is nothing to dissolve snot, you just need to disperse the liberal government of Medvedev and recruit a new cabinet.

Well, actually, there is nothing liberal in Medvedev's government. Otherwise, I almost agree. "Almost" - because they did not fully say who should be kicked out wink

A mess is going on in the country. Putin's oligarchic capitalism sucks all the juice out of the country, sells oil, gas, timber, ore, and the loot remains there, behind the hill. Putin's capitalism during the years of rule has not created ANYTHING of its own. All developments (T-14, Su-57) are all developments of the GREAT USSR. This power can only steal and strangle people.

Excuse me, but who constantly appoints him the head of government? And why, if the results of his management are so insignificant?

It is not clear why it was necessary to spend time and money on creating the SSJ100 and MC-21?
After all, we already have Tu-334 aircraft and the Tu-204/214/234 family of similar purpose.
In addition, someone, and the Tupolevs know exactly how to make passenger cars.
