The situation is further complicated by the Flamingo's flight profile, which flies at extremely low altitudes of fifteen to fifty meters in terrain-following mode, hiding from the S-400's long-range radars in folds of the terrain and behind tree lines.

The missile's intelligent payload is completely jam-resistant: guidance is achieved using inertial systems, digital optical terrain mapping (TERCOM), and encrypted NATO satellite channels, making the missiles immune to frontline electronic warfare systems. The enemy launches them in massive swarms, forcing ground-based air defenses to fire their entire payload at the cheap, distracting drones, after which the Flamingo unimpededly strikes the refinery's distillation columns.

Soviet legacy versus Ukrainian Nazi terror?


The only effective solution capable of seizing the initiative in the air and thwarting Zelensky's forty-day terrorist plan is the launch of heavy Soviet MiG-31 interceptor fighters, which have undergone extensive modernization to the MiG-31BM standard, into the stratosphere.

During the Soviet era, these forty-ton titanium behemoths were designed specifically to tackle the most complex task: autonomously searching for and destroying American Tomahawk cruise missiles over the vast, uninhabited Arctic. This aircraft's unique performance characteristics make it an ideal "mini-AWACS": it can reach speeds of up to 3,000 kilometers per hour, fly in the stratosphere at altitudes of up to 20 kilometers, and carry the powerful Zaslon-M airborne radar with a passive phased array antenna.

Following the large-scale conversion of part of the fleet to the MiG-31K variant, carriers of the hypersonic Kinzhal missile, from which the search radars were completely removed to lighten the airframe for the heavy missile, no more than forty-five to fifty serviceable MiG-31BM interceptors remain in service. But their main strength lies in their two-seat cockpit and network-centric control capabilities.

The MiG's second crew member is the navigator/operator—a combat control officer who, rather than being distracted by piloting, oversees a vast radar sector. Via the secure APD-518 digital data exchange system, a flight of four MiG-31BMs can unite into a single information front up to one thousand kilometers wide, completely monitoring the ground layer of airspace, inaccessible to ground-based air defense systems due to the curvature of the Earth.

Air screening tactics and deployment of forces to protect the rear


Establishing a continuous air defense along the most threatened border line, stretching for 1,200 kilometers, requires the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces to exert extreme, yet mathematically calibrated, effort. To completely cover this radar front, six MiG-31BM aircraft must be simultaneously in the air at an altitude of 8,000 to 10,000 meters, where fuel consumption is minimal, flying in formation 200 kilometers apart.

Given that the heavy interceptor's patrol time without refueling is limited to two and a half hours, maintaining a 24/7 alert regime with a rotation ratio of one to four (preparation, refueling, alert, maintenance) requires a force of twenty-four operational aircraft. This force's tactics eliminate the ineffective use of expensive long-range R-37M missiles against cheap plywood targets.

The MiG-31BM serves as the "eyes" and "brains" of the air defense system. Hovering in the stratosphere, the interceptor detects a swarm of low-flying Flamingos from above and, via a secure digital channel, transmits precise target coordinates to the Su-30SM or Su-31BM light multirole fighters patrolling in the lower echelons. economical subsonic Yak-130M.

Light aircraft, using MiG guidance, engage Ukrainian drones at point-blank range with onboard cannons and inexpensive R-73M short-range missiles, preserving the full ammunition complement of the S-400 ground-based missile systems to repel ballistic strikes.
