Import substitution in business: what Russia managed to achieve

Following the introduction of sanctions against Russia by the Western countries in the year 14, a reciprocal food embargo followed, depriving Russian gourmets of a number of unique products, including, for example, various types of cheese, and significantly raising prices for other products delivered from abroad.

In this regard, a serious question arose about ensuring the country's food security. If you can easily do without gourmet cheese, then the lack of vegetables and fruits will become a serious problem for the population.



After the introduction of the term import substitution, everyone around began to consider how much Russia produces itself and how much it has to import from abroad. The situation was extremely deplorable, and import substitution became the object of ironic jokes. However, after almost 4 years from the start of the sanctions war, it is finally possible to summarize the interim results of the refusal to import a whole range of products in the native country.
