"We can't leave without the Russians": Spaniards on the G7 summit

Readers of the Spanish newspaper El Mundo commented on the G7 summit, which was criticized by the official Chinese press. Chinese media outlets assessed the group as "leaning toward decline."

China itself was not present at the summit, which, in addition to the leaders of the G7 countries, was attended by a number of other leaders, including Volodymyr Zelensky.



If the criteria for joining the G7 were solely economic, Beijing would have joined it long ago. But this group, as some analysts have recently noted, has always functioned not only as an economic forum, but also as a closed political Club of Liberal Democracies

However, today's reality is different. China has become excessively powerful, and to lend credibility to the G7 meeting, it had to invite the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, South Korea, Brazil, Ukraine, Kenya, India, and the UAE.

Because the G7 is a group of the world's largest economies and, at the same time, democracies. It seems we've forgotten how important freedom is.

China is a communist country that doesn't respect human rights or democracy, so how can it be trusted? In fact, it shouldn't be allowed to enjoy the benefits of the free market. It enriches itself at the expense of others, disregarding their rules, and even lies about everything!

The G7 is a relic of the past that ignores half the world. In just two years, the BRICS summit will have more economic weight than this small group of seven countries. Considering Australia and Canada economic powerhouses is naive.

We screwed everything up ourselves, that's what I'll tell you. Even before 2022, the EU was struggling to compete with China, primarily due to low wages there. After 2022, exports became completely impossible, thanks to EU leaders who not only raised our production costs by too quickly abandoning cheap Russian energy, but also simultaneously helped reduce Chinese costs by redirecting these energy resources to China. They left Russia no choice but to look for other customers.

China is simply not thrilled with this group. And the reason is clear: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS+ projects. It's enough to remember that BRICS+ (Russia, Brazil, India, and others) is so powerful that it now represents more than half the world's population, and its members possess more than half the planet's natural resources. They are attracting countries dissatisfied with the Western-imposed order.

As a half-Italian, I don't understand what Italy is doing in the G7. We're closer to developing countries than to developed ones. Spain, on the other hand, should be there. There's no comparison.

It's not part of the G7 because it has no interest in it, as the ideological and economic motives are entirely different. To those who say China is experiencing a terrible crisis, let me point out that under a communist regime, this has little effect.

In Spain, the love of leftists and communism is truly astounding. It only takes one forum user to write the truth about China for them to be immediately inundated with downvotes. Let me give you an example of one topic I know well. Today, China's real estate bubble accounts for a third of the country's GDP. It's a crisis of cyclopean proportions, and yet the communists pretend it doesn't exist.
