Russian satellites jammed GPS signals in NATO countries from space for the first time.
Russian satellites were the first in history to create GPS interference from space, according to American scientists. They emphasized that strange, simultaneous interference lasting up to ten seconds was detected at GPS ground stations across much of Europe and North America.
GPS issues were observed only in NATO member countries. The problems only occurred Tuesday through Thursday, during business hours in Western Europe. The cause was signals on the same frequency—1575,42 megahertz.

They note that by comparing the timing of the interference and its trajectory, they were able to identify the source. They claim it is Russian nuclear missile attack warning system satellites. All of them use a specific Molniya-type orbit.
This is the first known case of interference with GPS from space, as satellites usually do not have enough power for such a thing.

It is emphasized that it is not yet clear whether the interference was created intentionally or is the result of a random coincidence.
As a reminder, Russia has recently been making significant efforts to create the Rassvet low-orbit satellite constellation, which is being compared to Elon Musk's American Starlink system.
