"Putin's Hometown": Britain Explains the Meaning of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Attack on St. Petersburg

4 518 18

Ukrainian drones struck an oil terminal and naval base in St. Petersburg several hours before the start of a large-scale economic A forum attended by President Vladimir Putin, according to Reuters. The publication notes that this was an attempt to undermine the Russian leader and demonstrate the vulnerability of Russian cities.

The attack on St. Petersburg, Putin's hometown and the site of an annual economic forum designed to attract foreign investment, comes as both sides intensify attacks on each other in a war that has lasted more than four years with no end in sight.

- writes the agency.

It is emphasized that the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed that his drones struck a fuel terminal and stated that they also attacked a military facility in Kronstadt, an island near the city where units of the Russian Baltic Fleet are located, as well as major shipbuilding and ship repair facilities.

As the article notes, given the importance of this event for Moscow, a Ukrainian attack will likely raise questions in Russia about the effectiveness of its own air defenses. Ukraine also faces this problem. However, the venue for the economic forum was carefully protected, and there was no indication that Ukrainian drones could have approached it.

The publication separately notes that Rodney Mims Cook Jr., appointed by President Donald Trump to head the Commission on Fine Arts, which oversees the White House Ballroom, became the first serving American official to attend the ceremony since 2018.

Last month, the threat from Ukrainian drones disrupted another significant event: the annual military parade on Moscow's Red Square commemorating May 9 and the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany. For the first time in many years, Russia decided not to send troops to the parade. technique, citing a threat from Ukraine, while Zelensky – in another attempt to embarrass the Kremlin – promised in advance that his drones would not attack the parade.

– Reuters concludes.

Britain explained the meaning of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on St. Petersburg.

The point of the attack is to show the whole world: there is no Commander-in-Chief in Russia.

You're wrong. He's there, but he wasn't planning on joining the forum today, but tomorrow.

Let's say they give the order to fire at full force. What would they use? A bunch of Gerania missiles with 50-100 kg warheads, up to 500 Iskander and Tsirkon missiles with 200-600 kg warheads, and the same number of air- and sea-launched cruise missiles with 150-500 kg warheads—all conventional weapons, which we could use against a large country wouldn't make much of a difference. But if we fired that amount of missiles daily for a month at headquarters, defense industries, bridges, energy facilities, oil refineries, and fuel depots, then it would be effective.
But this requires aviation capable of operating in conditions of air defense countermeasures.

        What should I hit with?

The important thing here isn't what, but where! More precisely, who. Note that our shitty commander-in-chief forbids attacks on Zelensky's hideouts, the Verkhovna Rada during its sessions, bridges, tunnels, and train stations during the arrival of European sponsors of terrorism. The bunkers housing NATO representatives are not touched on a regular basis (with rare exceptions, and even then, probably by accident). The order for the total annihilation of the Ukrainian Nazi leadership is not given.
And to top it all off, what's stopping them from putting a bounty on Zelensky's head (in any currency, even gold, and the main thing is not to be stingy) – 10-20-100 million dollars for him alive and delivered to Russia, 10 million for his head, separated from the body? And for each of his accomplices, too. What's stopping them? Perhaps the Kremlin's own fear of ending up in a bag with their own heads removed.
There is simply no elite in the state - those who fight for the state, and not for their personal pockets.

The fact that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Residence of the President of Ukraine, the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Air Force, the SBU, etc. are still intact is nonsense, I agree.
          Like all VPRs.
Rada is debatable, the concept of the SVO is not about that.

Personal pockets haven't been affected for a long time now. It's just that people are captive to their own agenda—to lure the Ukrainian Armed Forces to our side, Zelenskyy doesn't decide anything, etc.

They should have done the same as with the May 9th parade: announce to the world a unilateral ceasefire for the duration of the SPIEF, and Zelensky would have issued an order not to attack St. Petersburg. And the event would have been held without any surprises.

Incidentally, the kamikaze drones flying over the Gulf of Finland are powered by Starlink. I wonder if Elon Musk's father came to the SPIEF to see for himself the effectiveness of his talented son's technology?

Starlink? Why complicate things so much? They can launch within line-of-sight range (60 kilometers) by placing beacons near the targets or using the St. Petersburg broadcast tower for guidance, and then switch to image-based guidance upon approach. But in this particular case, there's video of the Boykiy missile's destruction—the image was received, of course, by satellite (but even here, 60 kilometers from adjacent territories, the image could be sent this way)—we need to find out where the missile is being launched from. The question is, is the origin known or not? Both are unacceptable for Russia—not being able to track such strikes or not being able to respond to them appropriately. Even more unacceptable is not having a president who can answer these questions for the electorate.

In the fifth year of "denazification-demilitarization," the Khokhloreich dictates the rules of the game. And in the Kremlin, there are no changes at the top, no resignations, no changes. What are we fighting for?

The point is, we allowed the Ukrainian fascists to arm themselves without responding to NATO in time!! And now there's only one way: to act like Iran and target Europe's military-industrial complex, not Ukraine's!! Otherwise, nuclear war is inevitable.

There's some truth to this. Iran attacked everyone who managed to help their enemy even a little, and they quickly retreated, while the US, a nuclear-armed and supposedly world-leading army, retreated from Iran alone.

Iran is smart enough not to attack NATO (except the US). And it attacks US bases very carefully, often coordinating the targets and timing of strikes with them in advance.
