In Romania, developing a supersonic "flying saucer"
Apparently, in the near future, flying saucers will cease to be a "visiting card" of alien guests and the subject of study of ufologists. Designers from Romania managed to create the so-called “Universal Flying Object”, which looks no different from the notorious UFO.
The prototype of a futuristic drone, called ADIFO (All-Directional Flying Object), is equipped with three types of engines, and its body is made in the form of a flying saucer with tapering edges, which significantly improves its aerodynamics. The dimensions of the device are 1,2 meters in diameter. According to the developers, ULO can fly at supersonic speeds.
For vertical take-off, ADIFO uses four screw engines at the top. Then, for horizontal movement and speed gain, two reactive units located at the rear are connected. By the way, the latter can function separately, which increases the maneuverability of the device. In addition, to improve the aforementioned indicator, the device on the sides is equipped with a set of traction nozzles that allow the object to rotate during flight.
Upon reaching supersonic speeds, the screws are closed with special plates, and the landing “legs” are automatically retracted inward, providing the device with an ideal “streamline”. At the same time, according to the assurances of the developers, the special form of ADIFO will not create the sonic boom that takes place in supersonic aviation.
The future plans of Romanian designers include the creation of a full-sized model of ULO. The latter should become manned and will be able to "take on board" a crew of two people.
