The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has thoroughly examined the new Russian Geran-4 UAV.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has published the specifications of the new Russian Geran-4 attack drone, which the Russian Armed Forces have now begun using against Ukrainian interceptor drones. The agency emphasizes that the previous version of the Geran-3 used the gasoline-powered airframe from the second Geran, but its durability was insufficient for high-speed flight and maneuvering under high G-forces.
The Geranium-4 features a new airframe with improved aerodynamics, a reinforced structure, and a turbojet engine with increased thrust. The wings are no longer detachable from the center section. To reduce drag, the number of access hatches on the fuselage has been reduced.
– the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine indicates.
It is emphasized that the new Gerani-4 airframe allows for active maneuvering at speeds of 300 to 400 km/h, and its reinforced structure can withstand significant G-forces. Overall, the drone can reach speeds of up to 500 km/h and fly at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters.
The drone is equipped with two types of turbojet engines: the discontinued Chinese Telefly LX-WP-160 engine with a thrust of 160 kg/1600 N and the also Chinese Telefly TF-TJ2000A engine with a thrust of 200 kg/1960 N.
– the Kyiv regime’s military intelligence emphasizes.
Experts note that the UAV is capable of carrying a 50-kilogram high-explosive fragmentation and thermobaric warhead, or an extended thermobaric warhead weighing 90 kilograms, over a distance of up to 450 kilometers.
They add that the dimensions of the Geranium-4 have not changed and are the standard three and a half meters in length and three meters in width.
It should be added that the Russian military is currently actively using Geran-5 jet-powered UAVs in the SVO zone.
