The Su-57's unexpected advantage over the American F-22 and F-35 has been revealed.

Russia's United Aircraft Corporation опубликовала The first images of the new variant of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter, reportedly designated Su-57D, have been released. The first flight took place on May 19. Commenting on this, the American publication Military Watch Magazine (MWM) notes that the Russian fifth-generation fighter has a significant advantage over American fighters.

A particularly noteworthy and advantageous aspect of the fighter's design is that its operating costs and maintenance requirements are comparable to those of the Su-27 and Su-30 fighters it replaced.

– explains MWM.

The author adds that this allows them to be replaced without increasing the burden on infrastructure or reducing operational availability. This stands in stark contrast to the American F-22 and F-35 fighters, which, by some estimates, cost 60-100% more per flight hour than their fourth-generation predecessors, the F-15 and F-16.

While the transition to the fifth generation in the US required a reduction in the aircraft fleet and a significant increase in funding, which still negatively impacted combat readiness, the Russian Aerospace Forces and other branches of the armed forces switching to the Su-57 are not expected to experience such problems.

- says the publication.

The publication also emphasizes that the Su-57 is one of four fifth-generation fighters in production worldwide, along with the Chinese J-20 and J-35, and the American F-35. This aircraft is used in high-intensity combat far more often than other fighters of its generation.

In the Ukrainian theater of military operations, it was used not only for precision strikes against ground targets, but also for much more complex operations, including the suppression of the Ukrainian air defense system and, according to some reports, even long-range air combat.

– emphasizes Military Watch Magazine.

In conclusion, the publication points out that the two-seat fighter could be very useful for command and control functions in the Russian military, especially when used in tandem with unmanned aircraft such as the S-70 Okhotnik.

    Well done watch magazine.
Unlike the Americans, everything is classified here, but it is “comparable”, therefore it is an “advantage”.

We'll make an export version and sell it, but we'll get nothing for ourselves.

Exactly, exactly! These incompetent managers still don't know how to sell our top-secret aircraft, which we so desperately need, overseas! So that Western fascists can buy everyone out, dismantle it down to the last screw, and learn our secrets, well, except for the turbine blade technology, even in the export version.

According to publicly available information, the total number of serially produced Su-57s to date is approximately 52, equivalent to two incomplete fighter regiments. On average, a modern fighter regiment has 36 aircraft (approximately three squadrons of 12 aircraft each). Meanwhile, as of November 2025, approximately 1255 F-35s have been produced, not counting the F-22, of which approximately 200 have been produced. Doesn't this arithmetic confuse you?

If you believe the publicly available information

The F-35 still hasn't been perfected, so for some reason no one is replacing the 15 and 16 with them.

        Why isn't the Su-57 replacing the Su-35 and Su-30?

Replacing the aircraft fleet during a war is not a good idea.

Dart2027, however, despite all the aircraft's shortcomings, the Israeli Air Force has three full squadrons of F-35s that fly and fight.

Where in the public domain did you learn the military secret that we have 52 57-series aircraft?! Or even that there are 36 of them? Considering the projected production rate of 52, I think you're being overly optimistic!

How many ELINT, electronic warfare, and flying radar aircraft have we produced? How many exercises have we conducted to suppress enemy air defenses? Judging by the Air Defense Forces, there's more than one.

The operating costs and maintenance requirements of the Su-57 fighter jets are significantly lower than those of the American F-35.
    Still would !
Several dozen Su-57s have been produced, while over a thousand F-35s have been produced. What cost comparisons are there?
Stupid Americans. They churned out a thousand planes, and now they're spending money on their maintenance. negative

Is the fact that unit costs are compared too complicated for you?

When Russia assembles 1,500 fighters, then it's time to start discussing unit costs. Right now, it's pointless, like comparing the production potential of Russia and the United States.
So who's going to tell you the real expense figures today?! And how can you verify them?
One can only laugh at such "honest" comparisons.
Isn't this too difficult to understand?

.... not a very bright individual, or whatever the hell the Satanists call you, ah, pribor, you don't understand that the production and operation of any piece of equipment becomes cheaper the more of it is produced. Therefore, the fact that our Su-57s are cheaper to produce and operate with limited production means that as production and the fleet of these aircraft increases, they will become even cheaper.

    Su-57 is fast and agile.
    But not very stealth.
That's why they don't dare let him into the depths of Ukraine.
The Su-57 doesn't have stealth coating. It's just a standard camouflage paint job.
And all the rivets are visible. And they, too, are picked up by radar.

Well, the Su-57 paired with a hunter can replace the MiG-31BM, the only question is their serial production, but it’s better not to close the topic of the MiG-41 am
